the world they live could be a built over a collapsed human society, where romeo comes from an old candy factory or a mall, corona is from a kingdom built from what used to be an amusement park and jelly ann... well, i don't have any answer, but while those two lived in a more joyful and happy places, paw city is a reconstructed metropolis, perhaps the name come from a restored insigna of a pet shop that the residents (anthropomorphic animals) now thinks used to be the name of the city

Actually, the name Paw City comes from the word Paucity, which means incredibly rare or in short supply ;)
