Born unto a peaceful tribe,
burned to the ground and left for dead,
Fire all around, my family departed,
left behind was the Phoenix blade,
training and learning came,
prepare for the battles to come,
they descend from all around,
Mortal Phoenix shines.

Found it from Fox's page... This is outstanding work... Very nicely done. I like the muscle tone and structure, it's believable and realistic, not overly dramatized. I see a lot of meaning in his necklace (not sure what's really called), as if to be a totemic reminder or center from the remains of the village and family who left. +Fave.

Lovely work I really enjoy the atmosphere, posing and colour!
I just wanted to add a little critique, I hope you don’t mind. The wings look a little out of place and scaly compared to the rest of the work, for the anatomy and feathers are very off – putting in consideration to the rest of the work!
I suggest looking at some photos of birds wings to see how the feathers lay out (even if you simplify the feathers, and just follow the general idea of how they flow as layers, I think it would look allot better! Sometimes less detail, and just hinting at the 3 major layers of the wings can be better than more lines!)
Here are some refs and tuts that are really helpful (I have them saved myself XD) In case you wish to use them for future reference –
