Seasons turn and change comes to all places. Even a town like Bunnyburrow gets new inhabitants as fortunes shift and time marches on, making the prospect of moving viable and desirable. New friendships come of these new opportunities and here's the latest, a trio of new-made best friends.
Starting on the left, a low-grade genetic miracle. Bonnie and Stu Hopps both carry the gene for a melanistic kit, but Doctor Arctos said it was a long shot to express it. They had a LOT of rolls of the dice, and Briar got it. Mischief-making Briar Hopps, in his hand-me-down clothes, the one who raids blueberry bushes with his brother-in-law, hard to know who's the bad influence on whom. Exuberant and tricky, he's the welcome wagon to two new citizens.
In the middle, don't be fooled. That's a charming, pretty boy. Ashley Stonejaw is the kind of son hyena mothers and fathers yap and plead in the Convocation chamber or the Sanctuary for. Petite, pretty, mindful, talented with household tasks, he's the son of a union construction worker and a stay-at-home dad, the hyena social dream. Both father and son drag it up, a bit of "putting on airs." That's something wealthy hyenas are stereotyped as doing. Ashley is just happy to have such a pretty dress to do it in. Yes, the blue midi dress with a pocketed pinny is very much an Alice in Wonderland reference. It's so iconic and also classy.
On the right, a bit of duplicity. He looks so neat and sedate, playing up his part as the eldest child of a very rich and powerful man. He IS proud of his father and his position, but in his heart he's a rambunctious little so-and-so. Peter Todd, half bunny, half fox, all country squire's son. He came of compromise. His mother Bea dearly wished to burrow-marry her beaus, Jack Lepus and Russel Todd. But part of that was an equal sexual sharing, and Jack wasn't bisexual. Bea did marry Jack, but her firstborn was Russel's son. He was raised with Jack as his father and Russel as his foil, never knowing he was playfully antagonizing his dad. He should have known, that fine blue frock coat is identical to Russel's own, a gift to his son. He also was kept in the dark because no one ever told him rabbits did not ever look like him. He genuinely believed that somewhere out there other rabbits had red fur, short brushes and half-size muzzles. But he knows better now. He's head of the household in his own mind and likes to lord it over his triplet half-sisters, the proper children of Bea and Jack.

Ashley is kind of a little nugget. He's one of my favorite kid characters because he's basically read as a girl, but sees himself as this super manly man, due to his upbringing. In his culture he's the equivalent of a gymrat with a fast car, his mother expects that he can pull basically anyone he wants. He's just a middle classer from the sticks but no joke he could date powerful Zootopian corporate types when he gets older. He will run the HELL out of a household. You got bunny Tom Sawyer and a half-fox Peter Rabbit up there, but little mister Alice in Wonderland takes the cake.
