I wanted to try my hand at drawing Ellie again after playing The Last of Us 2, one of the most hopeless, miserable games I've ever played. She's still my girl, though..

Man Ellie is soooo nice in your style!! I LOVE THIS
The first time I watched someone play it, I was angry with the game. Then I watched another person play it and I was less angry and then I played it for myself and now I'm on NG+ and I honestly believe the way the story was told and handled is actually phenominal. God do I agree though that it's a very hopeless, miserable game. It does not make you feel good hahaa
But I really do love it!

Aw, thank you so much!
I think since the time that I've played it for myself, I've simmered down a bit, but the game just left me feeling bitter disappointment and I can't pretend that it didn't make me feel that way. I do think there are a number of good moments throughout the game, but there's a lot I wish was done differently. I'm trying to come to terms with it, but I can never say that the second game is a masterpiece or that the story was done well. Perhaps if it was a standalone game that wasn't already attached to the first TLOU, I would be more accepting of it, but because of its previous establishment, I feel like this is just a huge letdown of a sequel. I'm still glad that it exists and I'm glad I experienced it though, even if it leaves me feeling depressed and empty haha ;__;

i gotta say, while i feel the aspect of story was rushed in a way, i do admire the tone they set, however what i cant understand is how people can simply hate on ellie for her design in LOU2, i think she looked very well done and the people behind her designs knew what they were doing
I wouldn't say the story is trash because it does have a lot of good moments and I can see what they were going for... but personally, I don't think the story is very good. I like the first half, the second half not as much and the ending is just a huge befuddling letdown. There's a lot of pacing issues, the characters make a lot of dumb decisions and I think the overall message is very obvious/not really told in a thoughtful way. I love the gameplay and graphics. Everything about this game from a technical standpoint is absolutely phenomenal, but sadly, I don't think they make up for the story, because that has always been TLOU's strongest suit. It's hard for me to want to go back and replay the game, despite how fun the actual gameplay is, because the story is just so miserable and no part of me wants to relive the ending.
Yeahhh, I think they could've interwoven the different perspectives between Abby and Ellie instead of doing them completely separately. I wish that Abby's backstory was shown in the beginning of the game and I wish that Abby/Ellie could've like..worked together at some point or I dunno, I could go a looong rant about what I would've done differently with this game that I think would've made it better. Overall I think a lot of Abby's stuff should've just been either a DLC or should've been saved for TLOU3, because it felt like a completely different game. Ah well.
Yeah really anything except introducing a new character only for the player Tom immediately resent them.
I wish they had kept Joel in the story longer hand had Dina be the one killed in Jackson, I feel like that would have had a bigger impact and a better contrast to Ellie and Joel with Abby and Lev, rather than just the pregnancy bit

I absolutely love how she looks in your style! Just gorgeous!
As someone who finally got around to finishing the first TLOU recently, I actually haven't gotten around to playing Part II due to all the divisive opinions going around based on what happens in the story. A few people I know that are playing it say they think the story is good and people are being too negative about it. Based on what I heard and seen, I definitely felt it could have been structured a lot better. It's a shame because the game itself looks really fun in certain places and ABSOLUTELY gorgeous (then again so did Uncharted 4, but hey).
But based on what goes down in Part II, I feel like if they do actually make a Part III it should be about Ellie facing the same character arc that Joel did in the first game... especially considering that, like Joel, she lost someone dear to her and ended up doing a lot of questionable and morally unethical things. Only difference is that with Joel we only got hints and tidbits of what he did before he met Ellie.

Thank you <3
Yeah, there's so much fantastic atmosphere and story moments, but overall, it just feels like sloppy storytelling to me, especially the ending when compared to the first game. If there is a Part 3, I really really really hope it's about Elle going on a path of redemption, but I don't know, I won't hold my breath. I honestly feel like Part 3 will just put Abby (the other main character in Part 2, who I'm sure you've heard about xD) and Lev in the spotlight. Ehh. I have no idea what they'd do at this point. Part 2 felt like such a hard punch in the face and then we were expected to say "thank you, I never knew being punched hurt." I don't know. xD. I do agree with you, though, that I think if there is a Part 3, it should be Ellie following a similar arc to that of Joel's. It would certainly help me be more forgiving of the second game.

Yeah at this point it's really hard to tell since people were expecting one story and instead were treated to another, especially with the misleading ads and the E3 2017 demo that made it seem like Ellie was gonna spend the whole game going after cultists. I wouldn't be surprised if Naughty Dog subverts our expectations again if they do make Part III.
I've heard so many people talk about how the story could have been fixed, from actually telling the events in chronological order to just playing the whole game as Abby trying to get revenge until she crosses paths with Ellie... but since the story they released is the story they actually wanted to tell, I'd like to believe that means they're gonna make Ellie the "Joel" figure in Part III like they did with Abby in II.

Yeahhh. Subverting expectations is cool and all, and I do like the overall concept explored between the two perspectives in TLOU2, but like.. at the cost of a good story? Nahhh...
I definitely think the game would've been a little better if they had let the events happen in chronological order instead of cutting back to sO many flashbacks from up until the very end, like.. it was just bewildering and a lot of the flashbacks with Joel and Ellie I think veeery easily could've just happened at the beginning of the game leading up to his death. I think showing more of Abby's backstory before she killed Joel would've made her more palatable character, too, but EHHHH, I get it, Naughty Dog wanted to do something different and hooray, I applaud them on taking risks. I just.. wish it didn't have to be THIS game, know what I mean? Anyways, I could go on and on and on, but the comment section on FA isn't the best place for it. xD
