I know THIS sound...
But the scary part to me is that there is an entire generation who has never heard this. I made a dialup reference in chat in a game I was playing and two of these people who are spring chickens were just... "what? What's dial up?"
I had to find a video with the noise to answer their question because there is no way to... Convey the sound in words alone.
They said to me it was one of the worst sounds they heard, and I cried. I remember it fondly.
