Comic: Blood Feud - page 1
Here's a new experiment for me. Doing a five page short comic introducing the main antagonist of my kitsune hero and his students. Who would have guessed it would be his own son?
This was done on a whim to see if I could. I must say I think page 1 came out well. Better then I thought it would when I started. I hope the other 4 pages I have plotted out come out so well.
Let me know what you think
Characters and art are mine

This comic may be old and below your current art skills but the artwork is good enough for a comic story. I like the different shapes of the top 3 panes.
I enjoyed the storyline of Blood Feud, which manages to do a good setup for a future story about the characters and skillfully works in a lot of information about the characters and their personalities and backstories in a very limited number of pages.
>Who would have guessed it would be his own son?
Giving the hero a good reason to not kill their antagonist is important for a good story, especially for one where the hero is high powered, like a nine-tail kitsune.
My favorite part of this page is actually the implied ethical struggle that Master Ryuutarou appears to have had about his own power level and how to use power, and the difference in viewpoint of the conclusions he has come to versus what his son thinks about it. This sort of fairly deep ethical issue is what really makes a good anime/superhero story.
And finally, what's up with the collar his son is wearing? That seems like it is intended to look suspicious due to the amount of detail that is shown for it in pane 5.

Egads this is old lol. I keep debating redoing it and picking up the follow up comic I started so long ago.
Glad you like the story and flow of the background here. Just cause he's a 9-tail doesn't mean he has his dilemmas, which he obviously does. His son sees the power and demands to know why he doesn't use it to force things the way he wants.
Honestly, the collar was an idea I was fiddling around with. I've drawn him with it and without it. Not settled on if it decorative or functional.

I have a feeling if we knew more about Ryuutarou's own background and youth I suspect that we'd see that he's tried to use power before and been less than satisfied with the results. That can be one of the harder lessons to learn. It wouldn't surprise me if he even recognizes a bit of his own younger self in his son. But that's all speculation.
Well the collar has at least one function, it makes his son easier to recognize. That's the main 'reason' for a character to wear unique clothing or jewelry.
And I have to ask, what's Ryuutarou's son's name?

Well the question did get answered eventually, it looks like Ryuutarou's son's name is Rittou.
