The beginning reminded me a lot of their stuff from '64-'95--especially Make Things Right (with a dash of Page One), so I'd say you succeeded at least a little bit, haha. The rest is a bit too dynamic for me to feel like I'm listening to Lemon Jelly, though, but this isn't to say this is a bad song; quite the contrary, really. :3

I really dig the lead guitar and the brush kit--however, the piano that comes in about a third of the way into the song seems a little bit out of place, to be honest... perhaps if you cut the lead guitar at that part it would sound a bit better? At least at first. Once the handclaps enter the piano sounds right at home with the guitar, so I'm not really sure, haha. Just a thought, I guess.
