“Ffwwwooo, grmff, HA!” Renald groaned, giving a few more hard pounds to the heavy metal upon his blacksmith’s anvil, sighing a bit and huffed, staring down at the long piece of molten metal, now a hole in it where a leather handle might be placed around. He pulled himself back, smirking as he put his tongs down, looking over at a feathery companion who sat right against the warm stone, the orange scales of the dragon duck glowing slightly as it just looked happy as can be against the hot stone. He smirked at him, giving the lower bit of his beak a rub with the thick blacksmiths gloves, the drugon giving a pleased quack as it seemed to smile, looking rather pleased and happy. Renald went to more of a full smile too, chuckling to himself as he picked up the tongs again.
“Enjoying yourself there Henry? Liking the hot stone against those belly scales of yours?” he asked, a small bit of jealousy flowing through his features even as Henry quacked back at him happily. He envied the easy life the duck had here with him, just blow a bit of flame on his dormant coals every morning, and just sit and watch him do the heavy hard labor. But...he shook his head at that, and humffed. Henry was a duck, a little small dragon duck. The fact he could even, and did happily provide his forge flame was a kindness in and of itself, and a good amount of work for the little guy given how much he had to produce. He shouldn’t feel jealous just cause he got to sit around after. His job was done, he just had to do his!
He grunted a bit to himself, and nodded, getting ready to grab the piece of metal again to once again heat it up, before he blinked, and noticed a rather long shadow cast over him. He gulped, looking up, and to his momentary relief, he just saw a little dragon duck also flying overhead.
“Hay look Henry, that a cousin of yours?” He joked, pointing upward, as his dragon duck companion tilted its head back to look up. It gained a bit of a confused look on it’s otherwise happy features, and Henry just chuckled before gasping and jumping a bit, almost dropping his tools as he looked up to see a MASSSIVE dragon duck making its way now fully over the town. It flew majestically, flapping its wings slowly as it glided just over all the rooftops of the city, just far out over the fields as Renald blinked with a heavy bead of sweat on his brow.
As it passed by though, he breathed another sigh of relief, chuckling a bit at his own worrisome attitude.
“Why was I worried, with how nice Henry has been, why would I think that one would be any different?” he said to himself, about to get ready to work once more before he blinked, and then looked back over at Henry. The dragon duck looked back at him, smile on its beak, just waiting to hear the sounds of the forge again. But, Renald, wasn't quite ready to do that quite yet. He blinked again at the little dragon duck, thoughts, flowing through his head. About how big that dragon duck was...about how young, Henry happened to be….t-they didn’t...happen to be one in the same in terms of…
“T-trruffffffFFYYYYYYYYY!!!” a high pitched yiping cry came from Renald’s throat, before he dropped his tools just barely off on the wooden bench beside him, scooped up Henry in his thick mits, and went darting off. The corgi calling out the knight corgi’s name that had brought him this gift not too long ago, in frantic abandon, with many many thoughts flowing through his rapidly panicking skull.
And the dragon duck, just happily quacking, along for the ride.
why dragon ducks gotta be so cute aaaah! >///< heheehehe I kinda fell in love with this concept the moment
GloriousCorgi came up with it, and the fact Renald has one now just gives me reason to use himm ; 3 ; heheeh so had to grab this image from the continually awesome
DinoGoat . I think Henry being the name for his dragon duck fits, just something basic and simple, that's what Renald would come up with. That and not knowing there are two types of Dragon Ducks...well...someone has a bit of nerves that need to be quited it does seem ; 3 ; hope Truffy is close by! (Adore how this all looks though, finally getting a look at Renalds forge as well! nice and basic, but it functions! heheh)
