STARBOUND - Zhanni
I decided to take a quick break from my work for Art Fight and treat myself by making a long-overdue reference for one of my favorite game-made OCs: Zhanni! Being that Starbound is one of my favorite games so very dear and close to my heart, making this ref really means a lot to me, and I hope all the extra time and polish I poured into it really shows. ^^

Name: Zhanni
Gender: Male
Age: ???
Species: (Mutant) Avian
Universe: Starbound
Bio: Zhanni was a victim of an underground trafficking movement between the Avian Stargazers and the Apex Genetic Research Program: the Stargazers provided bodies to the Apex, who in turn would use them as subjects of experimentation to try and cause them to regrow their long-lost wings. Zhanni was taken as a child and rebranded as Subject FE-B-1017.
He was considered one of the few "successful" attempts at this experiment, as he grew older his body rapidly began to develop fleshy stumps upon his back where wings would grow, and eventually those stumps developed into full-grown wings. Though despite this resounding success, he was considered an imperfect specimen, as the genetic testing upon him caused what the Stargazers considered unsavory developments, being that of horns, fangs, and a long, mutant tail.
At some point a power meltdown occurred at the lab he was stored, and he along with several other subjects were subsequently released. Many of the subjects, unable to survive without life support, died in the ensuing carnage... but Zhanni survived. And alongside with the few others struggling to survive, he destroyed the lab from the inside out. Since then Zhanni has taken to the stars, stealing an Avian ship and making it his new home... piecing together the fragments of his past and this dark conspiracy, he plots his revenge against the Avian Stargazers... and Big Ape himself.
Misc: At some point along his journey Zhanni acquired the mask he now currently always dons. While his wearing it began as a way to hide his face out of self-consciousness (due to constantly being mocked by Avian Stargazers for his "ugly" appearance), he's started to become whole-heartedly dependent on it; he's grown so attached to it that when it's forcibly removed he is sent into a rage, yelling out such absurdities as, "Give me back my face!"
