There are very few things out there that can deal any serious damage to Lazarus.
As a goddess one of the things that you need to watch out for is other divine beings, even more so if they're you. It's not that she was unprepared for what Lucy would be able to do to her but more so than she did not expect it at all. A single concentrated strike, a Punch to the gut was all it took. She could have done anything, summoned or created anything but instead choice simply to strike Lazarus.
