Nope. Anything I've learnt is by observation and from karate where we started on work with bamboo canes.
Fencing for me is too...fancy and refined

Well Karate is a start... all the same basic concepts apply, it's just a matter of weapon and style.

Yeah. We started off with these..foam things. But I quit before they moved onto bamboo

lol but bamboo is *thwack* ..fun, and *twack* ow! hey, that hurt!

I used to spar with some guys back home... can't say none of us ever got bruised or bloodied, but it was always great fun anyway... ah well, boys, y'know....

Anyway, I was pretty good at it... could take both of the neighbor brothers at once, and my little bro... lol, he had no control, like a berserker, all it took to beat him was a little bit of patience and some finesse. fighting is all about finesse... be it with a fencing foil, a wooden rod or your bare hands... brute strength will get you nowhere if you can't control your movements and those of your opponent.
