Don't laugh. It was one of the highest rated and highest earning shows of it's time, right up there with Green Acres. Then a new president came in to the network and cancelled both shows. Not because they were not making money, but because he didn't want his network to become known as the hick network. That started a ratings slide for the network that lasted something like 20 years. Now acknowledged that cancelling that show was one of the dumbest decisions made in network TV history.
i was annoyed by not enough trains in it.
so much more that could have been done with the concept if anyone connected had really cared about the concept at all.
that right there is sort of like the right ventricle of why i find tv boring.
the varios iterations of trek were good and a few other things,
but much less then sturgeon's ten percent.
mr ed was better then green acres.
if only that could have been about people building and doing creative things with the land
but of course the corporate masters of media could never allow anything like a positive light drama about a commune.
