The Sweet Tooth Incident
Yay! Another short story with everyone in their fantasy forms! (Don't worry, their personalities don't really change) I had this idea just randomly thinking about their fantasy selves, and Goodra's Pokedex entry in XY is my favorite Dex entry ever... just ever. (Let me hug my big, goofy slime dragon!)
Also, a little backstory on my sona's name, Kajex. It derives from having Jake (my nickname) being rearranged with an X thrown in as a reference to Kingdom Hearts, one of my favorite video game franchises.
(Also, a shout out to
Gameb9oy He really helped me lengthen my story length and add more details to stuff like the growth spurt. Go watch him!)
Kajex was inside a small cottage, wearing his signature, light blue tunic, black, rectangular glasses, dark grey bandages wrapped around his feet, and several pouches attached to a belt around his waist. He appears to be brewing up a strange potion from an old, leather book slightly obscured by darkness in a dimly lit room. The only light around coming from a crack in the window and a few candles. The pot currently has nothing but water in it.
"Alright let's see here," he mumbled, "Just add a dash of Tamato Spice, a few pieces of Dyna Candy, some Blue Apricorns, a little Grepa Juice, and I need to grind up a Dragon Fang aaaaand I should hopefully be golden... keyword hopefully."
He starts rummaging around the cabinets for his Tamato spice, not having too much luck.
"I really need to organize my cabinets better," he thought, "My spices are all over the place."
He glances towards his messy cot, table, and floor, clearly disappointed with himself as to what his living conditions are.
"Actually, maybe I need to reorganize everything in here," he awkwardly squeaked, "Eventually... or maybe when I'm done."
He accidentally bumps his head on his counter, causing a small bottle of red powder to then bonk him in the back and roll onto the floor.
"Oh there it is," he said as he rubbed the back of his head, "In the last place I look."
He picks up the Tamato Spice and sets it next to the pot.
Where did I put those Dyna Candies this time?" he jokingly asked himself, "Probably anywhere."
He checks the lower cabinets to spot a small bag of red candies inside the middle cabinet.
"There you are!" he smiled, "Not as annoying as another ingredient here!"
He sets the bag next to the spice.
"But yeah, I'll take care of this when I'm done," he sighed.
He checks one of the upper cabinets to find a rainbow of Apricorns fall out onto the floor.
"Just 3 Blues is all I need," he sighed, "And a better place to move these things."
He picks up three Blue Apricorns from the mess.
"My Grepa Juice," he sighed, "I hope I still have some."
He checks another cabinet to find an assortment of juices all tipped over and falling out, trying to locate his Grepa Juice.
"Oran, Lum, Wiki... where is the Grepa?!" he panicked, "Did I run out or something?!"
After nearly having a heart attack, he finds a small bottle of light pink juice that is only about a third full in the very back corner of the cabinet.
"Oh thank god!" he sighed out of relief, "I need to buy more soon though."
He then pulls out the bottle and sets it aside.
"Much like half the ingredients I own," he sighed.
He starts frantically looking around his counter.
"Now where my Dragon Fang?" he asked himself, "I could swear that I left it on my counter somewhere..."
He picks up the book, allowing the pages to be more visible, it's a recipe for a growth potion he's making. However, he picks up a small box that the book was resting on to find a Dragon Fang resting inside.
"Looks like some things are easier to find," he smiled, "Just grind this bad boy into dust, mix it in, and bam, I've got just what I was looking for. A permanent growth spurt that I don't have to use my abilities for! Give the rest to Rhys to do whatever he wants with it too."
He pulls a small grinder from the side and tosses the Dragon Fang in it.
"Now let's go ahead and grind this bad boy into some nice powder!" he said in a devilish tone.
He starts grinding the fang as a light knock is heard at the door, but Kajex pays no mind to it.
"Uh... hello?" a female voice echoed. "Kajex? Are you home?"
He's just giving her the silent treatment as he happily continues to grind, letting out a happy hum as he continued.
"I hear you in there!" she yelled, "I'm coming in!"
Jade, a Goodra nearly twice Kajex's height wearing a dirty apron and a messy, patched up, brown dress, and a small anklet around her right ankle, steps inside, just watching as Kajex pays her no mind.
"No wonder why you ignored me," Jade sighed, "You're messing with that book again."
Kajex finishes grinding the fang and now awkwardly hears Jade's voice.
"O-Oh!" he panicked, "H-Hi Jade..." "What'cha doing this time?" she asked, "Better not be another potion that makes someone's fur fall out. Naomi may have forgiven you, but that still doesn't sit right with Rhys." "I-It's a surprise," he teased.
He drops the candies and Apricorns into the pot, already turning the water purple.
"Of course it's a surprise," Jade remarked, "Same thing with your last potion."
Kajex awkwardly turns around and lets out a sigh.
"It was an accident. I accidentally went an extra page ahead when I opened the book to make a potion to give us some extra speed," he sighed, "Yes, I've done my best to make things up to Rhys... and failed at least seven times." "I just like teasing you," Jade smiled.
He dumps the fang and sprinkles some Tamato into his pot, causing it to glow blue and give off a faint, but sweet smell.
"I-I'll just use it on myself during demonstration," he blushed, "S-So I won't bring everyone down in case something goes wrong." "If you say so," Jade said.
Kajex moves his potion to the table with a sigh. (Also nearly falling over due to how heavy the potion was compared to his expectations)
"Anyways, I've got a half dozen cabinets to start organizing," he sighed, "Is there anything you wanted to come over for?"
Jade gives Kajex a surprise hug when he isn't looking.
"I was strolling by and wanted to give you a hug," she smiled, "That's pretty much it."
She lets go, leaving Kajex covered in her slime.
"Of course it's right when I wash my tunic," he awkwardly stated, "After pushing it off for a month." "Wait a month?" she asked somewhat disgusted, "Wouldn't that feel very uncomfortable after a week?" "Trying to cook up a good potion is pretty difficult. I didn't have time for a wash," he said. "Yeah, just an excuse," she teased, "But at least you eventually did it."
Kajex starts removing items from his cabinets before setting them on the counter.
"Say what you will," he sighed, "But as much as I'd hate to be rude, can you please go? I'm pretty busy." "At least you say please," she remarked, "Unlike Rhys."
She turns towards the door, but the scent of the potion catches her attention.
"Oh what's that heavenly smell?" she asked half dazed to herself.
She subconsciously walks towards the potion while Kajex pays her no mind.
"Let's see, I'll place the Oran and Lum Juices right here, move the Dyna Candies right there, maybe save this shelf for the Apricorns," he mumbled to himself, "No, that's not quite right. Maybe in here? Yeah that'll work better."
Jade is right next to the potion, the smell consuming her like a fish being lured by bait.
"This potion smells so nice," she said in a trance.
She glances back towards Kajex, who's still reorganizing.
"Maybe just a little," she thought, "A bit shouldn't do much of... whatever this stuff does."
She dips her finger in out of curiosity and scoops it up, the consistency being almost like medicine.
"All right, there's that section, just a few more things to move and I'll be capable of moving onto my cot," he said in relief.
She licks the potion off her finger, it tasting almost like a spicy, but sweet candy.
"Oh that's an interesting flavor," she said with a smile. "Wait you're still here?" Kajex asked, but not glancing towards her. "S-Sorry," she blushed, "I-I just couldn't help but to enjoy the scent of this potion."
However, she feels a tingly feeling in her gut that causes her to giggle with glee.
"I mean, if you want to stay here for a bit, I won't stop you," he sighed, "But please try to not cover too much of my stuff in your goo. I'm going to clean the rest of my place when I'm done here." "O-Okay," she giggled. "Uh... why are you giggling?" he asked. "N-No reason," she said trying to calm down.
Kajex continues to put everything away as Jade looks back down at the potion.
"But it tastes so good," she thought, "And it seems to do is make me giggle..."
She makes sure Kajex isn't looking before picking up the pot.
"Just a little more," she thought.
She tilts the pot upward and starts chugging it down.
"All right that should do it," Kajex sighed, "Now what- WHAT ARE YOU DOING JADE???!!!"
Jade sets the pot back down as she awkwardly looks towards Kajex.
"S-Sorry," she panicked, "I-It was just too tempting."
Kajex frantically looks in the pot, seeing that it's almost completely empty.
"... I'd better run," he awkwardly squeaked. "Why?" she asked, "All it does is make me giggle a little-"
This time, instead of a light tingle, Jade feels a rumble and a rush of blood through her body.
"Oh that doesn't feel good," she groaned, "Definitely doesn't feel like I'm giggling."
Kajex frantically grabs his book and shoves it into his tunic.
"That was a growth potion!" he panicked, "Why'd you have to drink so much of it?!" "Huh?" she groaned.
She falls onto her butt as her body starts growing at a rapid pace, her foot already sending the table flying.
"Oh that doesn't feel right at all," she groaned. "Well, you're only supposed to drink a cup! Not a pot!" he panicked.
He tries to get to the door, but Jade's tail is completely covering it, trapping Kajex in this growth spurt as he watches his cot be crushed like a twig, his cabinets smashed like a kid throwing a toy, his ceiling cracking like dried sand.
"It's my fault," she groaned, "I'm sorry Kajex."
The room is getting too small to contain her. His walls are breaking apart as easily as snapping a candy bar in two, he himself being sandwiched between her thigh and the breaking wall, clearly feeling uncomfortable on either side.
"And here I thought Rhys was the worst of my concerns," he groaned, "Nope, it was Jade's sweet tooth."
The walls are starting to let light seep in through the cracks and pieces of the roof are crashing into Jade's skull.
"I'm sorry!" she panicked.
Then in that instant, she bursts out of the cottage, leaving it as a pile of rubble surrounding her, leaving the two enveloped in the late afternoon sun and surrounded by a small forest as Jade still continues to grow.
"Please tell me there's a cure?" she groaned, "At least for my stomach?" "I-I mean uh... th-that should just be a side-effect for drinking too much of it!" he tried to say.
She doesn't realize that she is actually started sitting on top of Kajex mid-sentence.
"Kajex?" she asked somewhat worried, "Are you still there?"
The growth stops as Jade's head and feet rip a several trees out of the soil, clocking in at around 300 feet tall, able to gaze towards the forest around her in it's entirety, mountains appearing closer than ever, and even a small village just outside the forest, able to be thrown into chaos by just one misstep. The rumbling in her gut is also also dying out. (Luckily her clothes are intact too)
"Kajex?" she asked as she started getting her usual energy back, "KAJEX???!!!"
She rolls over and destroys a couple more trees, but still not seeing him.
"O-Oh no!" she panicked, "Kajex?!"
She then feels something growing underneath her before seeing a bigger Kajex slide out from underneath her still, being around 12 feet tall.
"Oh are you okay?!" she gasped as she picked him up, dangling him by his tail. "I'm just hoping that I'll be able to find the ingredients for a cure," he groaned, "My reagents are most likely ruined and covered in slime.
She plops him into her other hand, now holding him up to eye level.
"So uh... why were you making a growth potion?" she asked, "You can already change your size at will?" "I just wanted something permanent!" he blushed, "Plus, I can't keep a single size forever!" "So you wanted to try using it to grow a few inches?" she asked. "... And some for Rhys," he blushed.
He looks at his fur, seeing just how drenched in slime he really is, but can tell the book is still nice and dry.
"So you were just done being stuck a shorty?" she asked. "Y-Yeah," he blushed, "Asked Rhys about that too and he agrees."
She smiles as she looks down at the smol Lucario in her hands.
"But you two are always so cute!" she smiled, "Especially you when you shrink Kajex! You're like a doll when you do that!" "I'm definitely not shrinking anywhere near you until I can get a cure ready!" he replied, "Then after that, you're rebuilding my place solo!"
She puts on a slight frown, knowing just what sort of destruction she has caused just because of her uncontrollable sweet tooth.
"I'm sorry," she blushed, "I took a taste and all I did was giggle, so I thought it was just something to make people laugh." "And that is why you leave the potions to the experts," he sighed, "But I know what happens when your sweet tooth kicks in. I should've kept a better eye on you." "Maybe also told me what it was," she replied. "Nope, wasn't going to spoil the surprise for anyone!" he finished.
She holds him closer and closer.
"At least you can't get in my way for this," she teased. "Wait please don-" he tried to counter.
She gives Kajex a slime slathered hug, but he's keeping th book safe at any cost.
"I can barely breathe," he squeaked, "Please ease up a bit?"
She isn't letting up at all, clearly enjoying these big hugs a lot more than Kajex.
"Please stop," he squeaked, "I can't breathe!"
She instead squeezes him tighter, a brighter smile on her face.
"Aw don't be like that," she smiled, "It's not every day where your able to give monster hugs to everyone!" "Then there the moment I remember that if anyone loves giving hugs to literally anyone, it's Jade," he thought, "Naomi is nothing compared to her."
They then hear screams from below.
"What happened?!" a male and female voiced echoed below.
"Naomi? Rhys?" Jade asked, "Is that you two down there?"
Jade leans to the side to see Rhys, the midnight Lycanroc wearing a black vest and brown shorts with a small, dark brown, leather satchel and matching belt with a gold buckle and Naomi, the Mienshao in a dirty, blue tunic with a white apron awkwardly watching Jade nearly suffocate Kajex.
"Oh hi guys!" she smiled, "Sorry about the mess." "What happened?!" Naomi panicked, "Where's Kajex?!" "Oh here he is," she smiled.
She sets the slime covered Lucario on the ground in front of them. After he takes a second to take some long, deep breath, he kneels down to be a bit closer to eye level with them.
"Her sweet tooth did it again," he sighed. "What were you even making?" Rhys said out of curiosity. "My apology for the fur incident," Kajex sighed, "She came in right when I finished and it smelled too sweet for her sweet tooth to handle. I looked away to reorganize my cabinets and-" "Since when do you organize?" Naomi asked. "Ha ha, very funny," he sarcastically replied, "But now I need to whip up an antidote from my book so I can fix this mess and get Jade to rebuild my house."
Rhys lets out a light snicker as Kajex sets the book to the side.
"Definitely makes up for the fur incident," he snickered. "Next time, I'm going to make sure Jade stays at least 20 feet away from my next batch of potions," he sighed. "probably for the best," Naomi said half dazed, "When do you plan on-"
Jade scoops all three of them up in one hand and carries them at eye level.
"Not anytime soon if I have anything to say about it!" she smiled. "Warn me next time you slather me in goo again!" Rhys complained, "I just washed these clothes after putting it off for a month!" "Wait, you too?" Kajex awkwardly replied.
Naomi awkwardly stares at both of the guys.
"I'll admit, you've said weirder things," she blushed. "Still remember when you learned my secret," Kajex blushed, "Took me weeks to get used to that."
Jade then gives all three of them a surprise goo hug, much to Rhys' dismay.
"Please be careful!" Rhys wheezed, "You hug with like, a dozen times the punch!" "You three just look so cute from up here!" she squealed, "How can I not give you hugs?!"
Unlike the two guys who feel somewhat awkward being there, Naomi rolls with it and gives Jade a hug back.
"Yeah, I don't blame you," Naomi smiled. "How can you breathe in this situation?!" the guys wheezed. "I don't try fighting back and roll with it," Naomi calmly stated.
Jade rolls over and squeezes them not only with her arms, but her weight.
"Okay maybe not now!" Naomi wheezed, "Jade?!"
Jade can't hear a single sound as she gladly hugs her friends tightly, (also accidentally deforesting more and more of the trees in the process)
"Yeah, she can't hear us," Rhys wheezed, "Can you lend us a a hand Kajex?" "Yeah," Kajex wheezed, "I'll go ahead and get her attention."
Kajex forces himself to have another growth spurt so that he can break out of Jade's hug and stand just as, if not a bit taller than her. (also destroying more trees, much to the forest's dismay)
"Aw, did you use your powers just for a better hug?" she asked with a smile. "U-Um actually, Naomi and Rhys are having trouble breath-"
Jade then begins hugging Kajex even tighter, sandwiching their friends in the middle.
"H-Hold on guys!" he said, I've got you!"
Kajex uses his hand to get the other two to slide up closer to their heads so they can breathe easier.
"Thanks for the save," Rhys wheezed, "Almost died right there." "I'd say that's a bit of an exaggeration," Naomi replied, "But thanks Kajex, I appreciate the save." "No problem guys," Kajex awkwardly replied, "But uh... now you're stuck like this for at least an hour." "Yay!" Jade squealed, "A full hour of hugs!"
She nuzzles her head against Kajex's cheek, forcing to let him crack a smile.
"Then you're getting started on the cure, right?" Rhys awkwardly asked.
Kajex doesn't respond and just closes his eyes, enjoying the cheek nuzzles.
"Uh... Kajex?" Rhys asked, "Are you listening to-"
Naomi slides over and gives Rhys a hug.
"He can't," Naomi said, "But he probably will." "S-Seriously?" Rhys blushed, "You two are also caught up in Jade's, 'hug fever?"
Kajex lets out a sigh and hugs Jade in return.
"... Just my luck," groaned Rhys, "No one can hear a thing I say."
Naomi hugs him tighter as Jade does the same to Kajex.
"And I get the pleasure of dealing with this for an hour," he groaned, "Hooray for me."
Rhys lets out a sigh as the sun starts going down.
"Kajex loses his home and yet, I somehow feel like I got the worst end of it," Rhys sighed with disappointment, "How does that even work?" "Because you can be such a negative person," Naomi replied, "You just don't seem to let anyone try to be nice around you." "Just ease up a bit Rhys," Jade smiled, "You never let anything like this happen."
His cheeks glow just as red as his eyes, adverting his gaze from everyone present.
"N-No!" he blushed, "I-I'm just not a fan of hugging!" "Just roll with it," Kajex sighed, "You know that neither of them are letting go of either of us."
Naomi lets out a soft giggle, but doesn't let go of him.
"... Fine," he grudgingly replied, "But don't expect anything in return!"
He gives a one arm hug back to Naomi, causing her to give a faint smile in response...
