this was actually sort of a test attack to see if a person would be notified that their character had been drawn, if they weren't selected as the attack's target. (so for this instance, shizumoh's character is on the right, but the bird's owner was actually the target of the piece, since there can only be one, despite you being able to select multiple characters)
conclusion? yes, they are notified. tho i'm not sure how... need to talk to shizumoh some more.

i also realized, only once i was actually done and going to submit the attack, that this could be abused. you see, these two characters are on different teams. while not my main goal for this attack, i had wanted to draw for shizumoh, but they are on my team, so attacking them would earn us no points, and hinder our 'battle ratios' which are often used to determine if we will receive new attacks from the opposing team. so i chose the bird's owner as the target because then i would get points for attacking the enemy, while still drawing for my own team. i realized that i could do this on a much larger scale... draw primarily for my own team, and just throw in a simple character from the opposite team, and then we'd get tons of points for our own characters. which is not fair.
so, not doing that again! well, i might still use this method to avoid the friendly fire penalty, but i'm going to make sure that the opposing team's character is actually the focal point of the piece, or at least moreso than this image. i never intended for one character to be easier than the other to draw, i put equal love into both of them, it just happened that the horse girl was described as 'likes to feed birds' and then i saw that someone i wanted to hit HAD a feral bird character, so it worked.

honestly tho, the fact that we can do this at all, and get points for characters on our own team (especially considering you CANNOT get points for drawing your OWN characters... or at least i thought you couldn't) is pretty unfair no matter how you do it.
then again i really don't give a shit about points. but some people do. that's why you're not allowed to draw for artfight before july. like, in the end, everyone gets art so it's not like anyone's being hurt, but it is still technically a contest.
