Contrary to what many believe, a mage's most deadly opponent isn't a well-trained assassin or warrior. It is the very same tool that a spellweaver wields as a weapon: magic. The wizard flinging exploding balls of fire halfway across of a battlefield is to be feared, of course, but more terrifying is the thaumaturgist who can put a stop it, and render other spellcasters useless. Abjuration is a school of magic most widely known for its protective enchantments and enhancements, but it also has spells designed to subvert or cancel unwanted or harmful magic. Many think of Counterspell as the most primary example of stopping a stray Fireball or Lightning Bolt, but consider the plight of cursed items binding to an unwitting victim, or about the witch who hexes her enemies. Cursed items can only be removed and destroyed with the aid of Abjuration, and hexes, while unaffected by standard healing spells, are purged by Abjuration.
