Lol, i hated SC3 too at first but then beat the whole game and the story was really really good, and filled in so many questions one had on the story line in part2.
If you ever have it again and feel like beating it for the story it is highly worth it, there is even a speed FAQ up at gamesages.com

Toys for Bob has been trying to get Activision to agree to a proper sequel for a while. They haven't had any luck, though.
