It was a case of everyone says he did it so it must be true. After his wife left him with Smoke's unhatched egg Jake took whatever work he could leaveing any chance of clearing his name behind in order to take care of his son. It was only years later after a fight fixing ring was busted by the police that Jake was able to clear his name. After several well place lawsuits over broken contracts he is now well off and make the occasional appearance of the fighting circuits.
