It's based off a Game Boy, but I tried to give it just enough visual differences to not *actually* be a Game Boy--don't want to have to worry about trademark and copyright infringement, right? I do that quite often, actually, just sorta design my own generic version of something that already exists.
Anyways, I think I was trying to make it look like a Game Boy, but with a bit more of a curve to it so it's less brick-like.

Me too... I didn't get a Game Boy Color until 1999 or 2000, and I got it second-hand off some kid at school along with Pokemon Red for like 10 bucks, lol. I got a late start...
I remember being scared that my parents would be mad at me for having it, so I kept it hidden, and I'd even hang out in my sweltering hot bedroom just to play Pokemon because of my paranoia. Eventually I showed my mom and she just asked me where I got it, and when I told her, she just said "oh, okay" and that was the end of it. The parents just made me leave it somewhere they could see it before I left for school, so I couldn't play on the bus, but at least it didn't get stolen like that time I took some Pokemon cards to school with me and somebody stole them...
