This is actually one of the very first alien races I ever made, but brutally redesigned to properly fit my current drawing style.

Despite their appearance, the Gzieawl are a surprisingly peaceful, underdeveloped race. Although they don't know about their own origins, their Smowryee neighbors' historical archives talk about their arrival at Gziea, the robotic planet, formerly known for its complete lack of life - but not of conscience.

For mysterious reasons, Gziea adopted the Gzieawl and made harder bodies for them. These automatic exoskeletons provide them with better mobility and indestructible shielding in case of attack. It appears it's also stimulated their intellect and knowledge along the centuries - to a certain extent.

A curious fact about the Gzieawl is that they can reproduce - but they don't know how. Earthling research has proven that they actually reproduce by spores, but it appears that, in order to control its population, Gziea collects them, chooses a few specimens, and builds their bodies. The Gzieawl therefore believe they just are periodically created by their home and god.
