Here's my latest alien race. I expect these guys to have quite an important play in my future projects.

The Tarelori are the most intelligent alien race Earthling explorers have found so far. Their organism consist on a neural core immersed is a semi-liquid matter; this matter conducts external stimuli into the core for processing, and may vary its viscosity from hard as flesh to plain liquid if needed.
Their 'eyes' are small loads of very sensitive particles which react to electromagnetic variations, which allow them to see in quite a wide range of light frequencies. Parts of their bodies are covered in white lichen, with which they share the food they ingest. Tarelori's environment is very rich in microscopic organic matter, held in the air, so they can feed constantly. In different environments, their bodies will shrink slowly.
Although Tarelori can crawl, they've learnt a technique to speed up their movement: they absorb stones into their viscous bodies and create a convection flux inside them to form a 'wheel', which lets them move faster. Tarelori's bodies don't have a precise form, so they can adopt other species' appearance as a diplomatic maneuver to make communication easier.
All Tarelori share a single mind, to which they add everything they learn. Every time too much information is held into their mind, all the data is reordered and a new core is created into one Tarelorum, which then divides into two beings. Tarelori can breed with humans, by simply exchanging information (DNA) with them; although hybrids can't add information to the global mind, they can take data whenever they need it.
