This unusual looking fellow is a Trumpeter Hornbill. The reason they call them trumpeters is because of the very loud, distinctive call they make, which to me sounds almost mournful. Maybe this guy was sad, because his mate was sitting huddled up on her perch on the other side of the enclosure, totally ignoring him! Despite his unusual looks he's still a very beautiful creature.
