Slings are a common ergonomic weapon for the drekir. Drekir don't work well with bows, i mean they can and sometimes do use them, but there are better weapons.

As a guy who makes slings and practices slinging as a hobby i am a bit biased though i think they would be good for drekir. Slings function as a lever that can allow a user to throw a stone or projectile with more speed and force than they could otherwise. Slings are more reliant on technique than sheer strength. So many drekir tribes across the Americas use them in hunting and warfare.
This drek is slinging some spellflint that is frozen, probably to cause a form of shock in the target (like jumping into an iced pool)

The slinger is specifically from the northern cerrado from a known bandit tribe that raids the caravans of the city state known as Brasilia
