I really, really, really, really don't like fireworks...
I was just chilling in my house when a bunch of illegal fireworks went off near me, painfully reminding me how much I hate them.
I have a noise sensitivity so I would get super anxious about loud noises.
Like, I would walk in the opposite direction of any sort of balloon in fear of them popping, or constantly adjust TV/music volume, or (like now) hide indoors whenever Independence Day/New Years rolled around.
It's one of the reasons I also hate going to Disney Land, I would constantly be checking the time just to avoid the firework show they would have every single night, one time I had a huge panic attack when they were about to go off so I booked to the nearest restaurant and hid until they were done.
There are plenty of other times when I cried and ran away from the colorful explosions people for some reason, but if I wrote every single one down you'd be here all night/day.
Anyways, I'm an adult, I still hate fireworks, and I threw this piece together in an hour while listening to Justice with noise-cancelling headphones.
Happy 4th and if you enjoy fireworks, good for you. :3
And if you're like me and you're hiding inside until the nasty fireworks go away, welcome to the club. :P

Aww I really recognize the struggle of excruciatingly loud fireworks since I hate loud noises and fireworks as well ;w;
I don't live in the United States but I always hate it when the loud fireworks burst during new years eve & day, and I wish I could give you some cuddles. I hope that once we can celebrate these days without the hellish fireworks .w.

I'm all for the meaning of any and all national independence celebrations (I'd like to believe that liberty is a universal value), but I'm indifferent to fireworks. It's a lot more fun to celebrate independence by firing off an actual cannon. Or better yet, a .50 caliber rifle. };3 And yes, I actually had the opportunity to fire one of each of those back in the day. One of them belonged to my college buddy's dad-in-law and the other to his neighbor. So I got invited to one of their shindigs one summer and got to fire a Boys ATR Mk.1* (actually enunciated as "mark one star" + it was named after its English inventor, Captain Boys) and a "Mountain Howitzer" with an 8.5" B0re that used bowling balls as munitions. Oh, and there was a bowling alley down the road, so the cannon's owner had a convenient place to buy old used bowling balls.
Did I mention I'm somewhat of a redneck? X3
