This is our German shepherd Prince after a thorough wash down! He was rescued, and now you can't even SEE the scar circling his neck! He is a very sweet boy, and loves to scuba in the horse troughs, but hates baths.

We actually rescued him from his original home. My little bro did some work at a "breeders" place, and he saw this dog, tangled with another who was striving for water. Bro went to help, dog tried to bite his foot thinking he was the other dog. The "breeder" had him on a chokechain, and it left a nasty scar from him being pulled and yanked when water and food were around. The woman could not pay him, so he said "I'll take that dog off your hands instead then!" Lady said she could not sell him because he was not "mean enough". poor puppy was underweight and starving... Mom was mad at first, but melted when she saw the poor thing.
The poor thing, I don't know how someone can treat such a sweet looking dog in such a way. It's like people don't understand if they treat a dog inhumanely it will most likely turn aggressive against it's owner. They shouldn't be surprised if It becomes defensive in nature. Just looking at him, you can tell he's innocent.
I have some pictures from the night we got him, after we gave him a bath. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c.....Picture007.jpg in this you can see how thin his neck was, and the scar when it was all ugly.
He was very calm (probably scared) and lay there quietly while we took pics and brushed him. The KFC we stopped at to give him water gave us a dozen chicken strips that had gone over the 20-min limit to feed him.
It healed really well! Has a puckered line, and if you look at his ruff you see the indent still after a year, but healed physically. Mentally, he is scared of callars. We got him a harness. Much better
And No, we wanted to make sure she could not claim "stolen" on him, so we informed her what chokechains could do and such. She claimed " Oh, i did not know we could not tie them out with it!" someone called the ASPCA on her though. Several of her breeders had to be put down. Too vicious. Princes mother was so-so, so she lived, but his father was huge and highly aggressive. We recently found out Prince is a rare dog. He is a white german shepherd instead of a white shepherd like we thought! White sheps are smaller. His mom and dad were black and tan, but he came out white!
