I can see this kinda of technique being applied to carving it out of a solid foam block, too o3o just transfer the outline onto the block, cut it out, sculpt down instead of using lots of pieces to get a certain shape O:

Thats the beauty of this method. As a result of only using 3 seperate pieces of 1" foam I'm keeping it light and breathable. Which is very important to have I've found out.

I hadn't used this method before but I am beyond pleased with the results. I started with two halves of cardstock held up to my mannequin head.

I never heard of this method before, but I love it - it seems like the sort of hair-brained, over-complicated, BRILLIANT and creative idea/method of 3d art that I always approve of x)

Hair-brained most definitely. I found it extra helpful to make a dummy copy before committing to the foam/glueing process. Its like extra big and fancy origami without the folding part.
