So there's a Twitter feed ( https://twitter.com/oocPopeye/ ) serving Out Of Context Popeye panels, mostly stuff from the newspaper comic. Mostly, right now, from the early 40s, an era not at all collected and only rarely reprinted. So here's one from 1941, by Tom Sims and Bela Zaboly --- https://twitter.com/oocPopeye/statu.....44754248126465 --- that I felt like redrawing because mermaid. I don't know what's going on with the newspaper storyline. But, generically, it starts with a declaration of going on a bold dramatic discovery, then gets into some nice little mysterious force, and then the mystery turns out to be really goofy, and then that shuffles around a couple months, and then the cartoonists lose interest and end in whatever the fastest way possible is. It's an acquired taste but I like it.
Also: how is 'mermaid' not one of the hilariously unorganized species listings for FurAffinity? There's a whole section for mythical and 'mermaids' doesn't rate?
