This is a sketch from last year, I was unhappy with the ear, and somewhat unhappy with it overall.
But yesterday afternoon I showed a friend of mine, and they told me that I did the shoes really well...
I never even looked at the shoes really.
I was too busy concentrating on how I messed up on the ear.
They made me realize that sometimes we are too busy focusing on the things we don't like about our art, that we miss the things that are good about it entirely.
This can be said about ourselves as well.
If we focus on the things we don't like about ourselves, we don't see things other people like about us.
We don't even realize the good things are even there.
I like the shoes in this, I mean yeah, they could be a lot better, but it totally made me happy just knowing someone I care about, didn't really notice or say anything about the ear and instead pointed out something totally different that was cool.
I may be overthinking this a bit but whatever lol it made me happy.
A pic done last fall, because I drove by someone standing waiting for a ride who looked cute in the coat n scarf and I thought it would be a good drawing to do, I used a reference picture for the stature and pose, i forget where I got it which makes me sad.
I was so unhappy with the way this came out that I didn't plan on posting it so I totally spaced the reference pic.

P.S. I will get a better scan of it, I just took this with my cell phone before heading off to work. lol
