Reminds me of something Kenneth Clark said about that picture Goya did of a guy chopping wood...or French soldiers' bodies, I forget which. It was more or less "the moment of pause before the axe comes down is the perfect moment to draw it--nobody would be interested if it was halfway down or at the moment of impact." Somethin' like that.
