SHUSH Agents Vladimir Gryzlikoff and Derek Blunt from Darkwing Duck, in the new Ducktales 2017 style. This is circa 1957. Background drawn by my amazing partner.

My HC for them is that Beakley and Blunt are founding members of SHUSH - the organization was created during WWII. Gryzzlikoff joined after the war, defecting from the Soviet Union to do so. The three of them often work together, with Gryz as the rookie.

When Blunt retires he writes a bunch of sensationalized books about his life as a spy that later get made into movies (he’s sort of a combination James Bond and Ian Flemming).

Gryzlikoff eventually becomes Director of SHUSH. He’s still director at the time of Ducktales 2017, so if Darkwing Duck is going to interact with SHUSH, he’s going to have to win over rules-loving super-strict Director Gryzlikoff.

Beakley was forced to go into hiding in order to protect Webby… But I’ll talk more about that another time. For now I’ll just say: Blunt is Webby’s grandfather, but he and Beakley aren’t (and never have been) a couple… and it’s Blunt’s fault that Webby’s parents are dead. Fun!

Originally Blunt was just a generic white bird (maybe they even meant for him to be a bald eagle) but I really liked the idea of making him a seagull, so when he gets older his eyebrows and tail will go gray.
