Well, with Blender 2.8 doing away with the really handy texture setup in the internal render, guess I'll have to learn that node business sooner or later, so I grabbed a victim with the most easy to set-up textures (or so I thought, because what could be done with a few clicks and sliders in the internal render turned into an epic odyssey of looking through two video tutorials, trying to replicate both their setups, getting wrong results for both, then separating two meshes and making it work with a completely different, much easier setup). Replicated the pose from the trademission image (https://imgur.com/9EMcYJy), except with clothes on.

Yes, they do have more options than what I'm used to, as one of the things I did after getting through the mess that were the eye textures was to mock up a tapetum lucidum effect.
The shininess is there, just not visible at this resolution, as it's a pretty rough texture. Better visible here: https://sta.sh/0u6e6heqou8

>tapetum lucidum
Imagine going through a pitch black spaceship at night. Only a dull light from the instruments illuminates the insides. Stumbling, you accidentally step on something soft, and immediately a pair of eerily glowing eyes and two rows of shiny teeth appear. Your fear lasts only a couple of milliseconds, because the last thing you hear before being knocked unconscious is "FUCKIN' FUCK!!!" xD
