What "pattern test" was for

What does tentacles for a face mean? I don't know, but hey, it happens
this is at least the 4th I've drawn!

also, this scanner has an incredibly poor depth focus, sorry about that, the book was pressed down but it still does that. I'll see if I can figure a good technique later on.
I didn't pay a lot of attention to anatomy and stuff, just drawing without thinking
