Yeah it's true :) I just followed the original character design in this case!
I'll tell you: I usually go plantigrade because digi legs make no sense in a character standing on two legs (digi legs are meant to push forward, not upwards like plantigrade legs).
On more paw-like feet, I usually draw a full-foot skin area (like a pad) with or without toe beans... otherwise I do as I usually do in my art (I draw more human-like feet)... plain skin under soles/toes because it's a bit like an evolution in plantigrade terms of what pads/beans are :)

Yes, I agree with you 100% on that. Tempting as it might be, combining digitigrade and plantigrade leg structure usually ends up awkward. I have this problem with a character I adopted; I can't sort her out :) Here, though, you've pretty much just gone with a plantigrade foot. The pads don't cause any actual anatomical problems.
