Some representatives representing some of the enclaves within the universe of my HMNIY story! Not pictured are Greyleaf Delta enclave (destroyed), Greencave enclave (not well-established enough), and Circle Island enclave (I haven't developed it much yet).
Left to Right:
Emerald City Enclave: This representative is a high-class preener male. The Emerald City has a caste-based social system, and this particular guy is in the Leaf caste, meaning he's a master specialist in a skill. He's tall for a yinglet at ~5ft, but is average for his enclave. His hair, which is more of a ruff on the back of the neck, is the most common hair arrangement. It is considered a more sophisticated look than a full head of hair. His false tail-plume contains local plants and animal products, including the peacock-like beetle chitin. His clothes are beaded to show his status. The pale color with purple inner cloth also shows this. Typically, pale clothes are associated with smarts and a steady head, as they're difficult to keep clean. The pink-orange fur color is so far unique to the Emerald City enclave. Brindled pelts and back-stripes are common markings.
Mistskin Enclave: This representative is an experienced hunt-leader female. While they have plenty of bloodlines from the Emerald City enclave and it shows in their height, they have a more relaxed social structure. They have an unusual genetic quirk that greatly increases the percentage of females born. Females are still expected to breed, but have more freedom than other enclaves and are allowed into risky positions. This female has several scars, most hidden under her coat, and shows them off proudly. Her teeth are dark and plentiful, allowing for more efficient bites. The calico coloring on this female is believed to be tied to the increase in female production, and calico girls are favored by the Matriarch. Her clothing consists of a yinglet hide with a bit of swamp-beast fur sewn on for extra warmth, and limb wraps. The wraps on her legs have sharpened shed shell-teeth to rake anyone who would try to attack from behind. Her spear is a thrusting weapon rather than a thrown one, and also features shed shell-teeth. (Shelltooth weapon idea given to me by
sir.sergal!)
Blackglass Peak Enclave: This representative is a junior stone-shaper seeker male. His mottled coat is very common in his enclave, helping them to camouflage against the rocky landscape. He also displays thicker neck and tail fur, and will tuck his hands and feet under them to keep warm. Shorter ears help avoid frost damage when the nights get cold. His tight clothing offers both protection from the elements and warmth. Typically, full-length gloves and boots accompany the outfit, but this male is still cocky enough that he thinks he doesn't need them. As a stone-shaper, these are considered essential to protect one from flying stone chips. A semi-transparent eye cloth is also typical protective gear, but his facial scars aren't enough to make him wear one. His snooty posture is typical of his enclave. His hair is naturally the same color as his fur, but has been darkened with ash and soot. Additional soot and ash is held in the pouch at his neck for spiritual reasons.
Goldrun Enclave: This representative is a merchant lord preener male. Most of the Goldrun Patriarchs fall into this category, and it's relatively rare for a Seeker male to rise to power. Most Goldrun yinglets will wear hats. This particular male has also invested some of his wealth in ornate (for a yinglet) clothing that has several Reeds of Carnal Beckoning. His makeup is also a testament to his wealth. The biggest indicator that he is wealthy and intelligent are the many gold rings in his ears. The most desirable males in Goldrun are so successful that they can get enough golden jewelry in their ears that they can no longer lift their ears. 'Drop-ears' are pursued by the seeker males, and often have harems of 5-30 males underneath them. The Goldrun Matriarch will typically ask her merchant lord Patriarchs for recommendations on which males are the best. Goldrun genetics vary wildly, but most of them have the 'whitebutt' marking, where everything beneath the hips has white fur. The hindlegs are typically light grey or pink.
Silverrun Enclave: This representative is an average seeker male. Silverrun doesn't specialize as much as the neighboring enclaves do, valuing a 'jack of all trades' mindset among the common populace. This male wears a simple underwrap design. When working on the cliffsides, a rope would be run between the ties on the back, allowing him to be hauled up in a hurry if needed. He's carrying a loverberry, which is an overly sweet monstrosity of a fruit. Seeker males will often gather them and give them to preeners that they wish to court, as loverberries only grow on the cliffs. Sharing many of their genetics with the Foothills enclave, Silverrun often displays the same trails of bold facial markings, a dark nose, and smudged-looking pelts. They have a higher tendency to silver and grey coats than Foothills yinglets, and usually only have white ear-tips, as opposed to the entirely light ears of Foothills. They also have an unusual genetic quirk that causes the fur along the back to grow longer and stick straight up, resulting in a ridge of fur.
Foothills Enclave: This representative is a well-off merchant seeker male. Basic reading and math skills are common in this enclave, and the yinglets that have the willingness to learn are most often the successful ones. Foothills yinglets are typically more relaxed in fashion than their Goldrun neighbours, and the only thing that he considers decoration is the purple ribbon on his tail. The emerald studs in his ears are actually a tool to help him maintain a poker face during negotiations, as rapid ear movements would tug the string between the studs and cause him pain. Both seeker and preener males tend to wear a flat style of hat that hangs off the back like a small bandanna. Foothills tend to be muted shades of brown and grey, with a brighter golden color not being uncommon. The common markings are bold facial markings with a dark nose over a light central stripe, light hair and ears, a smudged pelt with a striped tail, and a non-continuous light mark on the tail.

Niiiice, love the worldbuilding that goes through your head like this!
It's a bit ironic that I designed these little weirdos with a focal point on divergent evolution between enclave societies, but am only really showing the Val Salian enclave in OOPs. So it's artists like you who are doing the actual exploration of the concept, and that is super fun for me to view/read : D
