Better than Steel, certainly, but that's a low bar. I think even Smitty the evidence room clerk is a better Enforcer than that guy. She's at least as good as Commander Feral, maybe better in terms of combat prowess (which demands different skills and disciplines than commanding), but tends to be brash and impulsive when it comes to decision making. She almost got herself killed trying to sneak up on the Pastmaster in her second appearance, ironically right after her uncle had gotten done praising her as "too good an Enforcer."
I'm torn. On the one hand, a continuation or reboot would give the old show more attention, but, on the other hand, I'm concerned that it wouldn't be as good (a danger so unavoidable it isn't really worth mentioning, I know, but still). As it is, I don't think it's happening anytime soon, anyway.
I never actually advocated for a remake on the one hand, but I gotta say that upon reflection, I think it might not be a bad idea, at least from a conceptual standpoint. I'm not sure I agree with your attitude that unless it's better than the original "in every single aspect" then it shouldn't be made. Firstly, it sets an impossibly high bar that all but guarantees that the new show won't live up to expectations. A sort of self-fulfilling prophecy. Secondly, the original show's quality is, in hindsight, subjective; it was good, and had a lot of great ideas, but the execution of those ideas could leave a lot to be desired.
Then there's the fact a lot of key voice actors and actresses have since passed away. Particularly Gary Owens (Feral) and Linda Gary (Dr. Sinian). Would a continuation recast them or write them out? Also, a sequel risks sucking just as much as a remake does. The difference is a remake wouldn't hurt the original the same way a remake would, due to the disconnect between the two.
So I say complete the remaining unfinished season two episodes and then leave the classic show alone. I'm given to understand they made it far enough along that the voices were recorded, so Gary Owens, Linda Gary and Robert Ridgely (Dr. Street) wouldn't need to be recast. This will mean the classic series will finally be complete. After this, focus on a reboot, but a decent one. None of that ThunderCats Roar shit. And anyway, it needn't be better so much as different and interesting and I'll be happy.
