Episode 16: Young Hearts of Flames!
Enter Raph the Dragon of Destiny’s Flame!
[Naruto Soundtrack-Kakashi’s Theme]
“C’mon, we gotta go!” Flame shouted.
“Just hold your tail Flame; we have to wait for Volteer to get here y’know!” Ember said. Ember, Flame and Volteer are about to head to Calina Island, a small tourist island just off the coast of Avalar City by ‘Sea Tram’.
“Now settle down, Flame, we’ll arrive at the island soon just stay seated.” Volteer said.
“I can’t, this is my first time going on a mission…”
“It’s my first time too y’know, but you don’t see me bouncing all over the place. Now sit!” Ember said. For some reason Flame did what she said, just as she looks through the window to see all the different kinds of fish around them, he looks at her out of the corner of his eye…
“Man, I must’ve made myself look like an idiot. Ohh…there’s gotta be a way I can tell Ember how I feel about her…” Flame thought.
Unnoticed and disguised, a different kind of monster blends in with the passengers, watching Flame and the others and waiting for the perfect time to attack. Then a cloaked passenger carrying something wrapped in a bundle walks up and takes the seat right across from Flame and company. Later, Flame fell asleep, Volteer was meditating, the monster couldn’t see if Ember was asleep or not but chose to reveal itself and lunge out.
“FLAME LOOK OUT!!!!” Ember’s scream woke him up just in time to see the monster open its gaping maw but before it could snap shut the cloaked passenger bashed it across the car to the front.
“Heh, y’know this saying mostly applies to dogs but when you see sleeping dragons you’re supposed to let them lie, not try to bite their heads off. That’s just plain rude and I for one; don’t take kindly to rude beasts like you!” The person grabbed the shoulder of his coat and flung it off revealing that he was a black dragon with blue chest scales, and blue wing membranes. He unwrapped the object he was carrying and it was a sword. The hand guard slid down from the edges of the blade and the mysterious dragon took a fighting stance.
“You three just relax and watch the show; I’d just feel bad if I didn’t take care of this guy myself.” He said. The monster tore off his disguise and charged on all fours like rabid psycho gorilla, the new dragon ran forward; slid and kicked the monster in the jaw, one handed handstand spin as he brought his sword down and sliced the beast’s chest into a front-flip double dropkick on top of its head and into the floor, the dragon leapt onto is back, planted his hands firm, swung his legs around, back-flipped and rammed his sword in the monsters back. The monsters head went limp and burst into smoke, the dragon spun his sword around, and the hand guard extended and covered the blade again and slung it across his back between his wings.

“Haa, sorry about that; I had to wait until I knew who it was after.” Ember looked up and down and I swear you could’ve seen hearts in her eyes.
“And you are?” Volteer asked.
“Oh yeah, my name is Raph and this is Raito. Eh…yeah yeah, I know I was just about to get to that…well it looks like we all have a common enemy.” Raph said.
“Really, how so?” Ember asked while blushing.
“I’ve been fighting these things for a while, trying to find out what they are after. Recently they’ve begun moving toward Calina Island, so what they are looking for must be there. But I haven’t the slightest clue as to what it is?” Raph explained.
“Hey, it might be that Key thing we need?” Flame said.
“That is the most likely reason they would be en route to Calina Island…we must find the Key before they do or Red shall get the upper hand.” Volteer said.
“I’ve heard of you and your friends before, I just needed the chance to meet some of you so that maybe we could help each other.” Raph said.
“Of course we’ll help you!” Ember said.
“Just don’t get in our way pal…” Flame said.
“I think you mean you shouldn’t get in the grownups way…” Raph said.
“Flame and Ember are young but they burn with determination, if they feel they are ready to undertake a mission such as this then as Guardians and mentors we must allow them to prove themselves.” Volteer said.
“Well when you put it that way, alright, we’ll see what you can do.” Raph said.
Two hours passed and Flame and Ember have already fallen asleep and were leaning up against one another, a perfect cute moment….

Ember and Flame woke up as they arrived at Calina Island, which was buzzing with activity. People running to and fro, others running up to Flame and the others, police patrolling the docks.
“Ah, you must Volteer and company?” a well dressed man walked up to them.
“Yes, and who might you be my good sir?” Volteer asked.
“A friend of Tyson who notified me about your arrival, I am Reynard Attenborough. He told me about your mission and I might be able to help locate the Key.” He explained. As they followed him to his research lab he explains why everybody is in a tizzy.
“There have been many strange monsters randomly attacking innocent people and even children have disappeared, it’s very…frightening.” Reynard said.
“That’s strange…why would they bother with children? Why not just search for the Key instead of taking children hostage?” Raph said. Just then Raito shook; I guess it’s their way of speaking to each other, “Hey, Raito says that a long time ago there were ‘guardians’ charged with protecting the Keys but now the responsibility has fallen on their distant descendants of today.”
“So all of the children that have been kidnapped are the new ‘guardians’?” Ember asked.
“Seems that way, but they probably don’t even know about it. How young are the missing children?” Volteer asked.
“4 to 5 years old. Many of them are orphans…” Reynard said.
“(groan), So they wouldn’t have even been told about the Key anyway nor what to do if they need to reveal it.” Raph said.
“Correct, they have 4 of the 5 actual guardians but they have kidnapped over 30 children. I can’t even bring myself to imagine what would happen to them if when they find the last child…” Raynard said.
“We need to find that last kid before they do. Maybe we can a clue to where they were taken.” Ember said.
With that they began searching for the last child and talking with the parents of the missing children, but with hardly any luck.
A day goes by without success so they crash at a hotel. Later as Flame is looking for Ember he finds her with Raph, he hides just behind the corner and listens in on them.
“So Raito is a…?” Ember asked.
“She’s the spirit of a wolf girl who had a strong heart. She wanted to help others protect who they cared about so she didn’t pass on to the next life but became a sword.” Raph explained.
“And she can talk to you? Can she talk to me?” Ember asked.
“I’m the only one who can hear her, but maybe if you focus really hard you can.” Raph said.
Flame couldn’t hear a word they were saying but then Ember started to giggle and Flame just lost it, “YAHHHH, GET AWAY FROM MY GIRL!!!” Flame charged at Raph and chomped down on his head!
[Bleach Soundtrack-Splash Boogie]
“YEOW, HEY MAN GET OFF!!!” Raph shouted as he flailed around trying to get Flame off.
“Flame, stop that! He was only telling me about Raiko!” Ember said but Flame was too mad to hear her! Raph continued to try and pry Flame off but now he had clamped down on one of Raph’s horns. Then Flame started smacking Raph in the face with his tail, making him stumble around till he fell backwards. Suddenly Flame was punched in the cheek…by EMBER!!
“Hey, what’d ya do that for?!” Flame whined.
“Who said anything about me being ‘YOUR GIRL’!!? Raph was just telling me about his sword when you butted in and clamped down on him……I HATE YOU FLAME!!” Ember screamed as she ran off crying.
“Hey, Ember wait!!!” But it came too late, Ember was already gone.
“Oww, she was telling the truth…I was telling her about Raito when you stormed in like a little dummy.” Raph groaned.
“Ember…” Flame moaned. He blew it big time now…he hasn’t told anyone else but he has a massive crush on Ember but doesn’t have the heart to admit it to her or anyone. And now he’s made her cry and run away, man does he feel like a little hotheaded jack@$$.
Raph and Volteer continued to look for the missing kids but Flame couldn’t help but worry about Ember, it’s been two days since they arrived and since Ember ran away and she still hasn’t returned.
“Man, I’m such an idiot…now what am I gonna do?” Flame said.
“If you want her back, you’ll give the final child to me!!” A robotic voice called out. Suddenly a huge robot crashed through the roof, it was covered in guns and launchers with huge hulking arms and fists.
“HUH?! Who are you?!” Flame said.
“I am Artillarex, I am the one who has your female friend captive as well as all the other worthless children. If you want her back, then give me the final guardian child at the Ourugos Ruins to the North of this island by sunset or you will never see her again.” He said.
“Flame watch it!!” Raph called out but Artillarex had already begun shooting at them, Raph managed to avoid getting hit but Volteer got hit hard and was down and out. That gave Artillarex the time he needed to escape, “Remember, bring the final child to me by sunset or you will never see her or any of the other children alive. Mwahahahahahahaha!!!!”
“Flame what did he say?” Raph asked.
“He has Ember and all the other kids, I gotta go save her!!” Flame tried to run off but Raph grabbed him by his tail.
“And what do you think you can do all by yourself?” Raph asked.
“I’M GONNA SAVE HER!!!” Flame whips around and bites Raph’s hand, “The Ourugos Ruins to the North, I gotta hurry!!!” Flame flies off toward the ruins. One hour later, Flame arrives at the ruins and immediately smells something.
“That scent…it’s the scent of Ember’s fire! She must have spat fireballs against the walls to lead us in the right direction. I’m coming Ember, just hang on.”
“Raph, Volteer…Flame…I’m sorry, Flame, please somebody…” Ember cried. Suddenly explosions began echoing out of the entrance tunnel into the Key Chamber.
“EMBER!!!” A voice cried out, it was Flame! He had taken out every enemy along the way to the Key Chamber on his own. But as soon as he lunged into the chamber he was dog piled and pinned down.
“Where is the final child?” Artillarex asked.
“I had to clear the way first, you’ll get the kid now let Ember go!” Flame demanded.
“Well now that I will have the final child…I suppose you can have…whatever’s left of your female friend!” Artillarex cackled.
“WHAT, YOU SAID YOU’D LET ME HAVE HER BACK!!” Flame screamed.
“Yes I did…but I never said you would get her back…in ONE PIECE!!!” Artillarex fired a single shot and broke the chain holding the cage Ember is in over a pit of spikes!
“no…No…NO, I’M SORRY!!!! EMBER I’M SORRY FOR MAKING YOU CRY AND ME BEING AN IDIOT!!! I’M SORRY, EMBER!!!!!!” “FLAME!!!!” Ember disappeared below the edge of the pit…
“NOOOOOO!!!!” Flame’s voice suddenly began to get deeper and fiercer; out of nowhere Flame was engulfed in a raging inferno that incinerated the enemies on top of him! Then at the same time a tower of pink flames erupted out of the pit which Ember had fallen into!
Two much larger figures, one from the red inferno and the other from the pink tower of flames, leapt up and landed side by side, the flames twirling and twisting together.
The flames dissipated and there stood two dragons…

A blazing fire red dragon with a burning bright red cloak and a beautiful pink dragoness with a flowing light lavender mane and an elegant battle dress, it was Flame and Ember but now 20 years old, their EX Trigger!!! Artillarex’s goons charged at the children but Ember was in their way in a blazing instant and with a swing of her leg launched a huge wave of fire that blew all of the enemies away and blasted a huge hole in the ruin wall!!
Enemies were flying all over the place as Flame smacked down every single one of them! Flames punches and kicks were now infused with his flames and one little punch is enough to turn a hapless enemy into a raging fireball!! Flame spun around and smashed one goon in the face so hard it flew into the wall at the opposite side of the chamber…and kept on going crashing through more walls of the ruins!
Ember shot powerful fireballs and created powerful streams of fire as she danced! Each step an attack, each movement to protect the children! Artillarex’s goons were all gone and he lost it, he fired all his weapons at the children but all of his shots hit a solid wall of fire!
Flame and Ember leapt out of the flames and attacked Artillarex in sync, infusing their claws with their super powerful flames! Taking off every single one of his weapons, Ember leapt toward Flame, locked hands, and swung each other around at Artillarex before landing a team double kick in his face!
“Ember, I’m sorry I made you cry. I’ve always wanted to tell you but I was too afraid of how’d you react but, will you be my girlfriend?” Flame asked.
“……I’m sorry I hit you Flame…and I thought I already was…” Ember said. A big goofy smile crept across Flames muzzle.
“GAHHHH, I’M NOT DONE YET!!!” Artillarex roared!!
“Sorry bub, but you are!” Flame began to charge up his Blaze Breath but Ember stopped him.
“You remember at move we saw on that cartoon with that ‘yellow haired’ ninja, right?” Ember said. Ember and Flame held their right and left hands close to one another and their fire powers began to surge and fuse, compressing and focusing more and more until they had created a huge swirling sphere of their flames!
“WHA…NOOOOOOO!!!!!” Artillarex roared. Ember and Flame pumped their strong wings and charged at him!!
With a unified roar they cried, “GRAND BLAZING RASENGAN!!!!” The attack bulls-eyed Artillarex and the resulting explosion was directed forward of them and annihilated the rest of the ruins as well as Artillarex. Raph and Volteer witnessed the incredible display of hidden power. As they came in to land with the final child Ember and Flame returned to normal as the dust cleared.
“Huh, we’re young again?! Aw man….” Flame whined but then Ember gave him a big hug.
“Why rush to get older when we can…take our time?” Ember said. Flame just smiled.
“Well you two are certainly full of surprises and a wealth of hidden potential. But now how are we going to get the key?” Raph said.
“Simple let me show you.” The final child walked over to the others and the 4 other guardians walk closer and all five kids join hands. Light began to pour from their hearts and collected in a sphere. The sphere then took the form of the Key of Lightning; several statues just like all the others shooting up out of the ground fired their beams of light toward Avalar City.
Back at the Sea-Tram Flame asks Raph, “Hey why don’t you team up with us? We could really use your help and sorry about…y’know…”
“Actually I was going to ask if I could join you all anyway, so why not.” Raph said.
That night as they rode the tram back to Avalar City, Flame and Ember fell asleep together for the whole ride.

“WHAT, YOU SAID YOU’D LET ME HAVE HER BACK!!” Flame screamed.
“Yes I did…but I never said you would get her back…in ONE PIECE!!!” Artillarex fired a single shot and broke the chain holding the cage Ember is in over a pit of spikes!
“no…No…NO, I’M SORRY!!!! EMBER I’M SORRY FOR MAKING YOU CRY AND ME BEING AN IDIOT!!! I’M SORRY, EMBER!!!!!!” “FLAME!!!!” Ember disappeared below the edge of the pit…
“NOOOOOO!!!!” Flame’s voice suddenly began to get deeper and fiercer; out of nowhere Flame was engulfed in a raging inferno that incinerated the enemies on top of him! Then at the same time a tower of pink flames erupted out of the pit which Ember had fallen into!
Two much larger figures, one from the red inferno and the other from the pink tower of flames, leapt up and landed side by side, the flames twirling and twisting together.
The flames dissipated and there stood two dragons…

A blazing fire red dragon with a burning bright red cloak and a beautiful pink dragoness with a flowing light lavender mane and an elegant battle dress, it was Flame and Ember but now 20 years old, their EX Trigger!!! Artillarex’s goons charged at the children but Ember was in their way in a blazing instant and with a swing of her leg launched a huge wave of fire that blew all of the enemies away and blasted a huge hole in the ruin wall!!
Enemies were flying all over the place as Flame smacked down every single one of them! Flames punches and kicks were now infused with his flames and one little punch is enough to turn a hapless enemy into a raging fireball!! Flame spun around and smashed one goon in the face so hard it flew into the wall at the opposite side of the chamber…and kept on going crashing through more walls of the ruins!
Ember shot powerful fireballs and created powerful streams of fire as she danced! Each step an attack, each movement to protect the children! Artillarex’s goons were all gone and he lost it, he fired all his weapons at the children but all of his shots hit a solid wall of fire!
Flame and Ember leapt out of the flames and attacked Artillarex in sync, infusing their claws with their super powerful flames! Taking off every single one of his weapons, Ember leapt toward Flame, locked hands, and swung each other around at Artillarex before landing a team double kick in his face!
“Ember, I’m sorry I made you cry. I’ve always wanted to tell you but I was too afraid of how’d you react but, will you be my girlfriend?” Flame asked.
“……I’m sorry I hit you Flame…and I thought I already was…” Ember said. A big goofy smile crept across Flames muzzle.
“GAHHHH, I’M NOT DONE YET!!!” Artillarex roared!!
“Sorry bub, but you are!” Flame began to charge up his Blaze Breath but Ember stopped him.
“You remember at move we saw on that cartoon with that ‘yellow haired’ ninja, right?” Ember said. Ember and Flame held their right and left hands close to one another and their fire powers began to surge and fuse, compressing and focusing more and more until they had created a huge swirling sphere of their flames!
“WHA…NOOOOOOO!!!!!” Artillarex roared. Ember and Flame pumped their strong wings and charged at him!!
With a unified roar they cried, “GRAND BLAZING RASENGAN!!!!” The attack bulls-eyed Artillarex and the resulting explosion was directed forward of them and annihilated the rest of the ruins as well as Artillarex. Raph and Volteer witnessed the incredible display of hidden power. As they came in to land with the final child Ember and Flame returned to normal as the dust cleared.
“Huh, we’re young again?! Aw man….” Flame whined but then Ember gave him a big hug.
“Why rush to get older when we can…take our time?” Ember said. Flame just smiled.
“Well you two are certainly full of surprises and a wealth of hidden potential. But now how are we going to get the key?” Raph said.
“Simple let me show you.” The final child walked over to the others and the 4 other guardians walk closer and all five kids join hands. Light began to pour from their hearts and collected in a sphere. The sphere then took the form of the Key of Lightning; several statues just like all the others shooting up out of the ground fired their beams of light toward Avalar City.
Back at the Sea-Tram Flame asks Raph, “Hey why don’t you team up with us? We could really use your help and sorry about…y’know…”
“Actually I was going to ask if I could join you all anyway, so why not.” Raph said.
That night as they rode the tram back to Avalar City, Flame and Ember fell asleep together for the whole ride.
