Thousands of years ago, an ancient civilisation of space-faring aliens detected an imminent threat of total annihilation. During a routine scouting mission in a nearby solar system, they happened upon the ruined husk of a planet that formerly teamed with life. Amid the ravaged chaos, a creature of unfathomable terror lurked; they dubbed it, the Great Serpent Devourer.
The Nechronians realised that their time as a species had become finite; therefore, a grand initiative was enacted; build an escape vessel large enough to house a significant portion of the population.
This massive 13 kilometres long vessel is the result of that venture. Built around the celestial remnants of a once-dead star, it has a near limited source of energy as well as its own internal gravity. In order to survive long-term in their new enclosed environment, the aliens altered their biological make-up, removing their reproductive organs as well as their need for daily food.
Depicted in the image is the alien vessel as it approached Ephalon. Behind you can see the red moon, Lopheas, and even further afar the smaller white moon, Acrose.

"Doesn't exactly scream streamlined." ~ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJtYDb7YaJ4
I sure hope it has at least one approved kitty cat on board!!!
Yeah, in space, that shouldn't be a problem, only if it needs to land to colonize a planet with air-like molecules constantly hitting on the hull. Maybe it has a streamlined energy shield or transport ships for landing smoothly...

Floating?? That sounds kind of counter productive, if they wanted to get away from the "Great Serpent Devourer". I bet on it, that it has a means to space-travel, since if it cannot, then they could have just stayed on their own planet. As I see of it's form, I vote for space-fold-jumping, since then the space ship hasn't got to move, just relocate itself around the near vicinity (or through) a split second-long active, controlled wormhole. If it can withstand the awesome gravity of being in the close vicinity of the singularity, then the "space trips" would seem/be nigh instantaneous and mobility-wise least taxing to the ship. It should also explain the seemingly lacking of space engines design, and the aim for it to just float/slowly drift around.
