Evil deeds were just ahead as the sun rose from the horizon. Robotnik had cooked up a brilliant plan to finally stop his high-speed nemesis from running, it was such a simplistic yet efficient one. Why not steal the blue speedster's shoes by breaking into his home? Surely he wouldn't run around barefoot outside, forcing him to wait for a backup pair while Robotnik would set his plans of world domination into motion. Sonic had been protective of his shoes for that exact reason, they were specifically crafted for his lightning-fast feet, withstanding his speed while cushioning his soles as he ran. The evil scientist had been secretly surveilling Sonic's room, he already possessed a great insight into the hedgehog's routine allowing him to execute his plan without being spotted. Based on his observation, the blue blur would leave his shoes next to his bed until he was finished with breakfast. Little did he know, the spiky hero had already noticed his presence the first minute he broke in. Curious about what Robotnik was up to, he decided to lay low and observe him for a bit. The moment Sonic captured a glimpse of his unattended shoes and Robotnik sneaking towards them, he instantly caught onto the villain's plan.

"Hands off the kicks, 'buttnik!" Sonic shouted angrily as he ran up to him, armed with a chaos emerald. Instead of just attacking him, the blue boy went for a more mischievous approach. Seeing how they were both in one room together without anyone able to interrupt them, the cocky hedgehog harnessed the power of the emerald to shrink his pesky arch-enemy. After being blinded by the green aura emitted from the powerful gem, Robotnik quickly attempted to grab the emerald off of him, not noticing that he now stood eye level with him. "What's the matter, got that sinking feeling all a sudden?" Sonic taunted while poking the forehead of the shrinking man. Observing Sonic seemingly grow right in front of his eyes was terrifying, especially since he wasn't really on his good side. They were no longer on an equal scale, the blue boy actually had to look down at him to maintain eye contact. As the shrinking went on, Robotnik became further scared at the mere sight of his speedy rival. The shrinking process seemed to accelerate the smaller he was getting. Just a few seconds ago he reached up to Sonic's chest, which was also now growing away from him as he now stood up to his lower belly. So it continued, the dwindling intruder was soon reduced to the youngster's knees, which encouraged the excited hedgehog to taunt him yet again. "That size is starting to suit ya, just a bit more and my feet will have something to play with." he boasted with his now superior size. Robotnik collapsed on his back in utter horror as he heard that, based on past experiences he knew that Sonic had the type of personality to toy around with people, and in this case, it was someone he had slightly less empathy for.
