Hello my gorgeous friends! I wanted to write a sort of spinoff for Father's Day with the story and characters that I am building on, so I wrote about Husk and his family. This might spoil some details that will appear later in this story, so read if you want, it is not required!
This story is shorter because I wanted to spend some time with my family today! I hope you enjoy my story, and make sure you tell your dad's how much you appreciate them! I don't know if anyone reading this is a dad or a son, but I wish you all well on this wonderful day! Have a good remainder to your Father's Day!
Remembering the Good
While on his way home from the café, Husk can’t help but think back to all the great times he had with his parents. Him and his parents had always gotten along great. They have always been each other’s support systems. The family has always been together, through thick and thin, no matter what. Husk has always loved his parents, and even though his mother hasn’t always been there for him, working very hard throughout the day to ensure that she can make enough money for her family to be able to live comfortably, but at the cost of time with her son and her loving husband.
Husk’s dad works at home though, so any extra time that he had, he spent it with his son, asking him to help him with a lot of odd jobs around the house. He works on commission, making wooden sculptures for clients, mostly consisting of him making sculptures in the likeness of the buyer. He was really good at his job, and he one day is hoping for Husk to take over the family business, even though he knows his son won’t want to take over, because that’s not what Husk wants to do.
Husk and his dad went camping a lot when he was younger, and it made him realize how much he loves to be in nature, just sitting around a fire, relaxing and staring at the flames. He loved camping because it was quiet, and he hated the bustle of the city. It was too much for his sensitive ears too handle, and that alone is enough to upset him. They always went to the same campsite, it had a resplendent lake, and a gorgeous waterfall, and he would always spend at least a few hours swimming around the lake. His father taught him how to swim in the lake at a young age, teaching him techniques like the breaststroke, backstroke, and the like. His father never taught him about the doggie paddle, and he said something along the lines of, “Way too easy to make a joke about,” you could never figure out what he meant, but you knew it must be important. Husk hasn’t visited the campsite in years, and the last time he visited, he did it on his own. If only he had somebody else who would want to go with him…
Husk loved his dad, and he learned everything that he knows today because his dad taught him everything he knew. They have been through thick and thin, through some bad things, but overall, he and his dad have had a great life together, and they both love each other very much.
Husk stops at the general store to pick up something for his parents. He wanted to pick up something sweet, so he got a blueberry pie, because he knew that they loved blueberries. He got back in his car and drove the rest of the way home, thinking on what he could say to his parents. Before he left that morning for the café, he announced to his parents that he was gay, after having denied it for so long, he decided that his parents would be fine with it, mostly because they have been through so much together, so why wouldn’t they be able to accept this?
That’s not what happened though. He quickly found out that his parents were huge homophobes, or, someone with a dislike for homosexual people. They instantly got mad, and threatened to kick him out, so he quickly left the house, and not knowing where to go, he went straight to his favorite café, to drown his sorry in tea.
Husk arrives at his house, clearly nervous. His whole body was shaking, but he grabbed his blueberry pie, and walked into his house, not knowing what is to come next…
