Not quite friends, not quite rivals. Across countless realities and dimensional permutations, it's not uncommon at all to find the pair, Ollimar and Cain, mirroring one another inversely in ethos, etiquette and aesthetic. Unstoppable together, were it not for their egos.
A fun piece I got from
Sjru of the fellas. Their style is crazy fun, be sure to check out their gallery!
I always love to see my characters in a different lens. I enjoy a simple design that can be adapted to different styles. Cain and Olli are pretty basic visually, but have pretty distinct personalities and characterizations, I like to think, so that even when they're pulled from their own canon, one can mostly understand how they'd fit in with and behave in other worlds. To this day, I regret literal child-me giving Cain the glowing eyes, though it's become his trademark.
As an aside since I don't have much story for this piece: Ollimar was originally designed to be more subtly villainous and cowardly/devious. A sly serpent type to be a foil to Cain's steadfast brashness. He evolved into being something more of a paragon of his kind, but I dislike characters without flaws. It was a bit of a happy coincidence that the pair are misfits of their kind, but more in line with one another's. Cain believes druidic ideologies like 'The strong survive and feed on the weak. Civilization is a folly and time will return all to nature.' Meanwhile, Ollimar unknowingly follows earth dragon mentality of shaping the world around you, because you have the will and power to do so. It's a fun juxtaposition.
