WhooHoo!
Rule 1 of rock covers: For every obscure cover you perform at a live show, you must play at least one crowd favorite.
I love Blur :3 I wanted to do one of their better songs, but this has good energy, and people will know it.
Sing along!

WOOHOO!
WOOHOO!
WOOHOO!
WOOHOO!
I got my head checked
By a jumbo jet.
It wasn't easy,
But nothing is...
No -
WOOHOO!
When I feel heavy metal
WOOHOO!
And I'm pins and I'm needles
WOOHOO!
Well I lie and I'm easy
All of the time but I'm never sure why I need you.
Pleased to meet you!
I got my head done
When I was young.
It's not my problem.
It's not my - problem.
WOOHOO!
When I feel heavy metal
WOOHOO!
And I'm pins and I'm needles
WOOHOO!
Well I lie and I'm easy
All of the time but I'm never sure why I need you.
Pleased to meet you!
Yeah, yeah!
Yeah, yeah!
Yeah, yeah!
Oh, yeah!

Waveform? Well, in terms of the general sound of the music, the flow, and style, it all seems to be just as good... there's times where it's just a Smidge different from the original... but those sparks of individuality are what truly make it original. ^.^
*glomps back* and, with this song, it's hard not to love it. ^.^

I looooove this song, I've always wanted to do it. Playing is perfect.
If you wanted to get it closer to that gnarly hairy sound, split that bass into two tracks and make one hairy with some distortion. The drums make them a bit hotter by cranking the mids on them a bit and at just the slightest bit of overdrive to them too just to make them sound like they're overworking the mics. Funny thing is, in the orignal the bass has way more distortion and volume than the guitars in the choruses.
Awwwesome job though. Next time you are doing something like this, get me in on it!

-glomps- :D
The drums -are- overdriven :P And they're EQ'd individually as well as all together. I'm not good at EQing them, so with a few exceptions I kept the EQ defaulted as the program set them. You should be online more so I can get your EQ help :3
I noticed about the bass. I didn't think to double it, but they did up the distortion during the last bit of the chorus. Too much treble in the distortion, and I was getting some nasty noise, though.
Define "something like this." :3

"something like this" = "epic 90s rock covers"
I'm almost tempted to get your raw files and have a go at remastering it, like some snobby sought after mid 90s producer redoing a single. The bass doesn't need more treble it needs more hairiness, it sounds like a big muff on it, but there's also a clean direct to board signal on it too. It's deadly.

I dunno if I'll be doing more, but I'll try to let you know... Actually, the next one I have to record is the pillows' "Hello! Welcome to Bubbletown's Happy Zoo," but I don't know if that's what you mean :P
Right, but the distortion in the song emphasizes a higher frequency, is what I meant. I chose not to distort it more because I liked the way it sounded without it. I'm not good at EQing, so it was muddying up the guitars instead.
Anyway, I only recorded it to set it up for a live show :3

That's cool :3 I'll probably take your suggestions into deeper consideration when it comes time to mix for the concert and I'm playing with it again. Right now, it's sort of like, "I'm done now. I'm not changing it." Even if I sound uninterested, I always take those sorts of things into consideration :3 Critique is always appreciated :3
How would we go about it? :3 I'll be playing the guitar live, unless you want to grab the lead part, which isn't very pronounced in that particular piece. I could use some help EQing and mixing, though :D We'll talk ^^

Well, the point of this piece is to parody what Blur saw in American music at the time. They were making fun of the grunge genre, but they did it so well that everyone loved it. That story serves me well in my set to transition into another song, so it works to keep it in tact.
Also, since I'm just playing guitar and singing with the rest as backing track (for lack of a better alternative), nifty things like a capella don't serve me well. This style works well with my set, too.
Furthermore, I'd rather focus my creative energies more on original works than on covers. I only have a little over a month to prepare. This cover is for playing to entertain; it's not really a creative endeavor as much as something that's fun to sing and play and hear. It was also an exercise in distortion. I was surprised I could make the Line 6 things in Record worth anything, so I'm greatly encouraged now ^^
That said, if I were going to cover something as a project, I would change things up. I won't have it done in time for the contest
furrymusicians is holding, but I'm doing a rock cover of Paula's theme from Earthbound, even changing chords and adding lyrics. I'm all about making a cover my own, but this is not a chance to do it.
I hope that makes sense. I'm down with your views on covering songs, but this isn't really the time to play around with other people's music when I have such a small amount time to put together an hour-long set. This isn't the focus, it's just for fun :3

if you liked 'child,' you might like some of their later stuff as Damon Albarn started working on his Gorillaz project.

It sounds as good as the Original. You got very, very close.
But... thats kind of my little problem with it. I wouldn't notice the difference if I heard this without explanation. I would prefer if you'd done this in your own style, wich I like pretty much. I think that would open up a new perspective of a really great song.
But still: Awesome song, perfectly executed, good work. Love it.

I'm hesitating to say... I might like your version better than the original.
I love Blur, especially their last 3 albums, but Sing 2 was never one that I particularly loved. I think I like their original version better now too because of this.
Your voice is pretty great. x3
