Like many noble warriros, Duncan Spearsholt prefers to take a broad range of weaponry to war so that he can select whichever he wants to use on a particular occasion, as a surgeon might choose her tools or a painter his paintbrushes. Against the naked, musclebound barbarians of the Aelsoni Invasion for example, he wielded first his executioner sword, and then his broadsword and shield. Against the heavily armoured Khaganate Warriors he fought on horseback with spear and then on foot with poleaxe and mace, and in the wild forests of the mountains he fought with bow and dagger. His armour, runeforged by the legendary Gerda the Smith, was said to be proof against anything up to a small cannon yet was relatively light and flexible.
