Sadly, we have to do the same. He's such a good dog when you're watching him... When he is alone, he likes to find things to chew up. Basket FULL of toys, but that book on the shelf looks VERY yummy.
This might be tmi.. but a few years ago.. I had JUST brought home a new months worth of birth control pills. I left it on the table and walked into the other room to get something. not even 5 minutes, I walk out and he's lying on the floor with 'em. he managed to gently open the plastic wrap, open (without breaking) the plastic clam shell and was gingerly taking each pill out of the slots, one by one and eating them. I about lost my mind, I was sure he was going to die. Thankfully poison control told me he would be fine and not to worry. But OMG.. That dog. LOL He looked SUPER proud of himself for it too.

Also TMI story: My husband forgot to shut the bathroom door. The dog had just eaten his own poop (didn't realize cause he'd done it on the porch) then snuck in and ate a discarded tampon. Then thew up his stomach contents in the living room and was eating it all over again when I found him.
We've started stuffing his toys inside other toys to keep him occupied. We normally have a rawhide and a few destroyed socks and stuffies inside one of his big toys. He's a great dog as long as he's supervised! D:
Does yours lick for hours too? Couches, pillows etc?
