The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter was an American single-engined, high-performance, supersonic interceptor aircraft that served with the United States Air Force (USAF) from 1958 until 1967. It was also used by the Bundeswehr were it get nice nicknames like Witwenmacher (widowmaker), Erdnagel (ground nail), fliegender Sarg (flying coffin) and Sargfighter(Coffin-fighter). ( Till 1992 alone 116 German pilots lost their lives in accidents with that aircraft)
