Shadow offered his hand to Moonlight who took it in elegance, allowing Shadow to guide her onto the ballroom floor.
The tempo started slow, the piano playing a little before a voice sang. In the traditional sense of the Alpha and High Priestess dance, the song was a representation of several things, however, it had to represent them both equally. The lyric’s started off descripting Shadow; his relationship to her vs the pack, Moonlight knowing herself that his family would also be more towards the light-hearted lyrics than the darker side.
At the very beginning when they began dancing, he was asking her through the song to tell him how all this worked, these ridiculous faces around them, when the only face he cared for at this very moment was hers, the one engraved within him.
Surrounded by a world of people, individuals, light and dark, pack or family. He stood in solitude, helpless and shattered. For even those who are so close to him, smiled at the ‘mask’ he wore to hide himself.
Moonlight could see it in the single eye that he showed while the other one remained covered by his hair, hear his sadness in the music. Whether he fought or ran, he’ll lose his breath at some point seeking truth to his existence, the answer as to why his body will constantly move even when his mind and heart froze. Perhaps she was his truth, or maybe he just simply didn’t want to disappear.
Strong; weak.
Faith; logic.
Breakable; unbreakable.
Smiling; crying.
He’d wait in hopes for her to find and accept him all the same, one day, no matter what shape she finds him in.
Shadow danced there amongst the ignorant crowed, existing and feeling his own wretched existence of the words and actions planted into his own mind by the packs who are supposed to care and love him. Fighting and fighting against their words and blades Shadow kept fighting, while his heart grew ever distant with each day he hasn’t been found. No longer wanting to bother someone to find him or find him on their own.
Accepting to become a faded no one.
At this point he feared his life-taking monstrous self. No longer a ‘savior’ to himself, his love, or those around him. Instead, he would rather she remember him like he used to be.
As who they still should be.
The happy days they had together dismissing doubt and fear that others spoke with venom, life never wanting for more with one’s hand holding the others. Night shining brighter than day, even in the most trying of places. They loved each other through it all. Even in isolation.
They saw each other isolate themselves, one living in a pack of one whenever he went outside the gate of his home. The other drowning in work in order to achieve what was lost, hoping to start over and be more than their appearance. They even isolated each other at one point, too busy for happiness.
Loneliness; scared to get close, longing for a memory that neither could remember, unable to see anything but the ground.
At this moment Shadow lifted Moonlight up against his body, Moonlight wrapping her right leg around his waist with both arms around his neck. Shadow looking up to her while she smiled down at him, slightly blushing, and thankful that her fur could hide such things. His body was still hot, knocking out any cold that may have been there, his fur still smooth and soft, she could remember falling asleep upon it multiple times. The others scent made them shiver, Shadow may be tone but so was Moonlight. Her hair shined in the light, her three tone soft and short fur a contrast to the beauty of light and dark night. Her piercing golden eyes, lips, he wondered if the growl in the back of his throat could be heard by anyone else, her breath a shiver in the cold making his growl became more animalistic.
Each Unraveling their world, even as their cloths stayed in place.
As the singer began the next set of lyrics after a brief pause, Moonlight and Shadow held each other more personally than formal before beginning their dance again. This time the lyrics descripting what she has gone through in her life.
At once, did her world crash she changed while all others around her remained the same, the pity, sorrow in their eyes as they passed by without giving her a glance or offer of help to the once lonely child.
The lives she had once envisioned for them, marriage and children, suddenly faded before they’ve begun. Trying to repair one thing just to break another.
Shaking in her attempt to stay awake in all the restless nights, her unshakable resolve to conduct this symphony that life had given her. In truth she thought she had accepted that she could not be with him since she was soon to be High Priestess, her resolve shook while her heart stood unshakable in the imaginative truth. Her hands longing to contaminate his fur in a way that only a lover could do.
Existing in a wretched existence, consuming not others’ lives but her very own. One is always at a distance when a desk is in-between them, when she sees paper more than another celestial like herself. Being cooped up in the temple or her father’s office that is in her home, there was no need to seek her when she’s so busy.
Becoming a fading no one.
Such a lonely space, empty of anything but a single life, the sound of company is shifting paper and that of a brush against paper. It stood to wonder if such a place could be crazy, or if the one holding it together is the one who is truly crazy.
Only melting away when reality becomes hazy, dreams becoming ones’ sanity of their changed reality. A way of how things used to be, when her parents and siblings were still alive, when she could play with Shadow and train with him. Heal him of the pain and show him how neither of them were alone, how she used to be.
As who they really should be.
At this point every time the singer would say anything similar to; don’t. Shadow and Moonlight posed to the fast coming lyric that rivaled the strength of the music, and the emotions of the words in the song. Shadow slightly dipped Moonlight, hips close together his right hand holding hers while his left held on to her back, hers wrapped around his neck. Eyes telling the other ‘don’t forget me’.
