"Valhalla take ye, 'fore I stride hence."
As I was watching
onissarle doodle in Open Canvas, I realized that I've never drawn "feral" Flynn...or more accurately, Flaena. I wanted to really illustrate the difference between a dragon and a wurm, some of which I'll outline here:
1. Wurms can't fly, though they do have a limited form of levitation that allows for long/high leaps and slow falls.
2. Wurms can't swim (something most dragons are usually quite good at). They just sink like a stone.
3. Dragons generally have a lot of ornamentation (crests, multiple horns, spines, multiple colors, etc). A wurm's appearance is deceptively simple.
4. While very flexible, wurms are not graceful or agile. They're big, galumphing monsters.
5. However, they're big galumphing monsters that can clock 90mph in a flat-out run and are so strong they can literally break the average dragon in half.
6. Wurms are low and elongated. Their body is like a lizard's, but their tails are long and powerful, like a constrictor snake. They have incredibly long toes with highly flexible joints.
7. All wurms are hermaphrodites, though they do have multiple genders.
8. Wurms do have a breath weapon, and each one is unique. Unlike dragons, however, theirs have a recharge time...but by the same token, pack a lot more punch per use.
The title for the picture basically means "You'd rather be dead before I get there." :D
