Over the past week, I have been trying to develop Jennie Hart's character and backstory a bit. Her backstory is not co plate without mentioning her parents, as they had huge influence on how she would behave. Meet Red and Blueberry Hart, Jennie's dad and mom. As you can see, one is red, and one is blue, which gives reason to why Jennie is purple-furred. Here's a bit of info about each one.
Red Hart:
Jennie's father, and yes, his name is actually Red. I tried to make it a pun off of "red heart" so I guess the name works. He's a toon red deer, which explains why he has a beard of fur around his neck and why his last name is Hart (a male red deer). His bottom half is more animalistic than most anthro deer's but that's ok, as toons are very diverse themselves. And yes, he has antlers! All of the male deer in this series will most likely have them. His chin is very pronounced. I tried to make him look old-timey and that's why he has a bowler hat and cuffs around is shirt.
As for his personality, he's very gruff and manly. Although he is manly, he's also an introvert and is more of a follower than a leader. Who does he follow, his wife Blueberry. He met his wife Blueberry at a party for his wife's organization. He fell madly in love with her and went all toony in front of her. At first, Blueberry's friends did not approve of the match because of his different species and his usually quiet personality, but eventually, they just went with it. He likes to embrace his traditional toon male traits like being loony and not wearing pants. He has a habit of making gag toys and candy, which he sells in his shop. He also loves polkadots and passed that along to his daughter Jennie.
Blueberry Hart (nee Pancake):
A toon white-tailed deer. Her outfit is designed to look like a blueberry, like with the bubble skirt and big, round sleeves. The hat is a carryover from her original concept design. I tried to give it Mary Poppins vibe. her hair also looks like a blueberry, with a round blue base and a greed bun. Her head is rounder, and her eyes and nose are much pointier than the average toon deer's.
Blueberry is from an affluent toon family living in Rose Beach. They got big off of selling baked goods (later in her life, she would make goods for her husband's shop). While growing up, she was raised very conservatively, which impacted her values on gender roles. By the time she graduated high school, he had established traditional toon values for women, which involved being a damsel, not working, getting married young, and most importantly, not wearing pants. She instantly because a socialite and joined the Feminine Toon Committee, a group that lobbies for traditional gender roles. She did so much for that group, that she was the hand picked successor after the leader left. At her time there, she met and married Red Hart. She also loves to tight lace her corsets in order to make her skirt look huge.
Because of her family's conservative values and ties, Jennie is also that way and was inspired by her mom's group to form the Tea Party Girls.
