Legacy of Gruumsh - The Rekkath
In the millennia prior to the event, Orcs were a plague to all civilized cultures across the continent of Lurandoria, carving out dozens of kingdoms that would rise and fall, but never completely die out - at least until the Event caused them, and so many other races, to go extinct.
Before their demise, they regularly captured and enslaved members of other, usually working the weaker of them to death. Over the centuries, however, they developed first a taste for Thule (sheep folk) and Grinku (goat folk) flesh, but began breeding them for size and power to test their own strength against. These beings were gradually indoctrinated into worshiping their masters deities, and in the last millennia before the Event, 'blessed' via unholy ritual by Gruumsh to become the cyclopian race we have to content with today, known in old Orcish as the [b]Rekkath[b/]. The Rekkath became a race apart from their ancestors, no longer able to interbreed with Thule or Grinku (except where draconic heritage was involved), yet able, through profane ritual, to interbreed with trolls, ogres, and other bestial humanoids before the Event.
When their masters died to a one, and the ogres and trolls of the ancient past were wiped out by the Event, the Rekkath found themselves masterless, and became little more than barbaric nomads or haunters of the ruins of fallen kingdoms for generations, hunting and killing all else they encountered in the name of Gruumsh, whom they yet worship.
Now, a thousand years past the Event, the Rekkath warbands are emerging from the wilderness in startling numbers, and for every hundred or so Rekkath, an ogre sized bully or champion walks among them, some of which have uncanny regenerative abilities and pale green skin beneath their nasty matted wool.
