When I'm stressed, you know what I do? Draw more. Just... random crap. Comfort brainstorming, that's the life for me!
So I was binging Beastars and got to thinking.... "What if... Tabletop RPG world... but *modern*?"
And so in the vein of Beastars, Monster Musume, Onward, and Zootopia-! The brainstorming for a fully modernized world of monsters and fantasy began to take shape!!!!
In ages past, long ago, this world resembled many a fantasy rpg setting! Monsters prowled the wilderness, there were dozens maybe hundreds of different intelligent races, there was near constant conflict with the "civilized" races all but butchering the "monstrous" ones, and maybe there was even magic!
But, society moves on. Technology evolves. Slowly but surely, the peoples started to integrate more and more into each other.
And through hardship, revolution, and development- a modern society evolved. Magic, if it ever existed has slowly faded away- as if the energy that made it possible faded from memory... Possibly still lurking, but hey, there are jobs to do, society to live in, and taxes to pay! Who's got time for that?
And, in personal author appeal- Goblins are the most prevalent and populous of the races. These little cuties once were considered vermin, slaves, or even meat fodder. But with their large families, unlimited tenacity, and the fact, they were literally hecking everywhere (there may even already be goblins on the moon) they have become the most populous demographic across the planet.
And we follow "Delilah, Emma, Bean, of Red Thicket, Child of Gregor." or just "Deb." A middle aged goblin of 24. Already middle aged and just out of college...
