There, within the steamy tangle,

Beneath gently pattering vaults of green,

What lives amidst the jungles great exhalation,

And yet to human eyes remains unseen?



There, within the rain carved gorge,

Where the emerald sun-kissed water pools,

Where abundance of rain brings abundance of life,

And drizzled feathers, as wet blooms, glisten like jewels.



There, between two worlds, canopy and stream,

To whom the fruit and fish sustains?

Its much harder to tell, and with certainty quell,

Whether reality or reverie remains.

"Verdance" is my latest labor of love, in more ways than one, for my commissioner and partner, Axikor.

This piece is a marriage between the fantasy that the character was originally born from, and a deeper connection to and understanding of the natural world. It is an exploration not only of the character, but where it is he might believably exist.
