The Dogbomb crosses the finish line at the 2010 L.A. Marathon in 4,329th place. Final time 4 hours, 9 minutes, 33 seconds.
The last 1/4 mile of a marathon is pure bliss. After months of training, a long term goal lies within your grasp. You feel invincible, like you can conquer any problem and achieve anything that you set your mind to.
Then you collapse in a heap and are unable to walk well for a week...
A HUGE thank you to everyone who helped me complete this task; my sponsors, my cheering section, my poweraid and snackybit provider at miles 10 and 20 (that's you, Thomas) and my furry friends who have provided me with words of encouragement these past months.
I finished in 3,236th place amoung men, and in 403rd place in my
age group (geezer). There were 22,551 finishers that day.
However, I think I may have placed first amoungst really old fursuiters...
If anyone wants info on where to adopt a wonderful dog (or cat) in Southern California, or if anyone wants further rescue group direction, PM me and I'll hook you up.

True, but in a race you don't get to stop every three minutes to rest.
It was cool, though. It was a tough guy/tough gal competition and we all got FREE FOOD! Spaghetti that was surprisingly good. It was worth it! I seriously thought that next morning that aliens came and cut my lats and triceps off with a curling iron.
That and I was fighting a bunch of rank amateur drunkards who, in hindsight, probably went into cardiac arrest overnight for going through such exhertion while drinking heavily.

*waggwaggwaggwaggwagg* Congratulations! I am so glad you finished and it looks like you did quite well too! Nicely done! What a worthwhile charity too! All the longdogs and troublemakers whom need homes appreciate your efforts! 3.3K will buy a lot of marflebits and vet jabings/pokings for them! I am so glad you did that. I think it is fantastic that you wore the ears! Very cute! *Waits until after you have shower* * hugs* hehe
I dunno', there are some tough furries out there!
I used this site for sponsorship help:
http://sponsoranything.com/index.cfm
But to tell you the truth, I got the majority of donations
through a couple of well connected friends.
The checks or pay-pal payments were directly payable
to the rescue group, saving me the hastle of tax liabilities,
non-profit status, etc, etc.
The donations were made on the understanding that I would participate
in the marathon, and advertise for a group or corporation if desired.
No one wanted to be listed on the back of my shirt.
Go figure....
